SCHOOLYARD PROJECT

  • Our plan 

     

    Introduction:

    This project focuses on environmental education and ecology. The principal aim is make our schoolyards a place more functional and entertaining for our students, while protect and preserving it. Every partner, with the help of his/her students and their parents, will try to renew their yard, through different type of activities (by playing games, create handmade toys from waste and reused material, organize environmental actions, etc.). As a result, children will gain a different perspective of their favorite place: the schoolyard!

     

    Goals:

    Students will:

    - learn information about their partners (countries, cities, flags etc)
    - observe and note down the flora and fauna of their schoolyard.
    - enrich their vocabulary with new words.
    - learn words in foreign languages.
    - read books about plants, animals and their circle of life.
    - learn about ecology, through activities of recycle, such as creating handmade toys of waste and reused materials.
    - Plant flowers, trees, vegetables or spices.
    - collaborate in order to play games, in small or big groups.

    -participate in environmental actions.

    - protect and preserve their schoolyard. 

    Teachers will:
    - exchange ideas and experiences, through teamwork.
    - collaborate with different type of groups (other schools, parents etc)
    - use ICT (videos, photos, e-books etc)

    Work process:

    -Every participant school is going to upload an introduction video or pictures, in order to present their school, city and country.

    -Every school will create a logo. (Logo competition)
    -Every school will observe and record the flora and fauna of their schoolyard and read books about different species of plants, animals and their circle of life (similarities and differences).
    -Observe and note down the circle of life of a plant.
    -The teachers and the students, will search for innovative ideas of reusing waste materials and start to collect them.
    - Perform activities, like planting, creating toys etc and learning/discussing about consumption and ecology (Actions in our school)
    - Every partner school will exchange videos with one or two games.
    - Create artworks, brochures, leaflets, books, animations etc for the protection of environment.
    -We will run an evaluation by creating videos and e-books, which will include our activities and games. Also, the students will evaluate the toys of every country and vote for their favorite.

    -We will organize different type of collaborative activities.

     

    Expected results:

    The expected results of the project, will be:
    - Students will learn about different species of plants and animals.
    - Students will observe and understand the circle of life of a plant.
    - Students will collaborate in order to play games, in big or small groups.
    - Students will learn about different types of recycled materials and reuse them.
    - Enrich their vocabulary.
    - Learn about the protection of the environment and the importance of ecology.
    (preservation and protection of their schoolyard).
    - Teachers will have the opportunity to share their experiences and exchange ideas. (Communication and ICT).
    - At the end, a video or an e-book will be created, including all the activities.
    - The schoolyard will become more attractive and functional for the students.
