Self Evaluation by Nurcan DEĞERLİ

    • Pedagocical Innovation Aspect

           Through this project my students both practised English language and improved their ICT skills. They moved learning out of classroom walls. They were not just passive listeners in the classroom. They were active in the project. They leaned by doing. They became aware of the new technology.

          They also raised awareness about the enviromment with their activities in the project. They were models for other students.

    • Curricular Integration Aspect

         The project wasn't a whole class activity. So we didn’t allocate a lesson for this project. Our students worked for the project after school.

        Through this project our students;

       -practiced group work.

       -they both  practised the language and developed their ICT skills.

       -learned to work collaboratively with their peers from a different culture.

    • Use of Technology  Aspect

    Throughout the project, my students developed their ICT skills in the following areas:

    Converting Files    : They also learned converting files.

    Recording and Editing Videos  : They developed their ability to record, cut and combine a video with a mobile and a camera.

    Using Moviemaker :They learned to add photos , videos and sound to the moviemaker and create their own videos. They use Adobe CS6 Photoshop , Sony Vegas Pro 13 , Windows Moviemaker,  Photo Filtre and Kizoa.

    Resizing Photos    :They learned to edit photos.

    Creating Augmented  Reality: They learned to create auras using AURASMA. They made the photos alive.

    Using Padlet : The students learned how to write on Padlet.

    Creating Logos : They learned how to create a logo for the project. They tried different logo designer programs.

    • Schools’ Colloboration , Communication and Exchange  Aspect

         Our collaboration with Francesca was fine and we managed the project by exchanging mails on  a regular basis.The project started in February and  both partner schools did their best to follow the project plan and meet deadlines and worked in coordination from the beginning to the end.

          At first, we arranged activities to get to know each other. We made our students to create their profiles and communicate with eachother on their profile pages. They learned about their interests and culture. Then they introduced their schools by recording a video. Then we made our students to create a project logo. Both Turkish team and Italian team create a logo. We displayed both of them on a page.

           After that we planned our activities.We worked on the following areas ;

          - Environment Pollution

          - Forest and Wildlife Conservation

           -Recyling

          We set up some cleaning activities and recorded them .When the students finished editing and recording the videos we uploaded them on the twinspace. After that the students coded the videos they made to photos using AURASMA. They made the photos alive and we uploaded them on the twinspace.

    • Project Results , Impact and Documentation Aspect

        The aim of this project was to create augmented reality contents related to environmental problems and create awareness on this subject.
    Through this project we aimed to develop our students' creativity ,ICT , and foreign language skills. On the other hand we planned to get to know each-other , develop our students' language - communication and ICT skills.Our students learned each-others' culture and got closer. They recorded wonderful videos and created auras for them. They exhibit their work on school walls. We have achieved our goal.

         Our project is sustainable and transferable. The students can set up new activities and can record them.It is also a good example for other teachers who want to try a different project.

        With the project, we, the teachers, also improved our knowledge on project planning and working , competence and skills. We learned new things from eachother.
