Description of the project

  • DESCRIPTION

The development of ICT and its gradual integration into the world of Education brings many changes to the role of teachers and students. Our students belong to a digital born generation who follows global events through Internet, online magazines, blogs , social media, Facebook or twitter, making as wide as possible a use of all the digital tools available to them.
We are aware of the huge impact and power social networks have on individuals, groups and society in general and of the role the media have always played in our own and our students´personal development.
At the same time, the massive use of Internet and ICT by children and adolescents is creating new contexts for social relations and formal and informal learning. Participating in the information society requires digital skills in order to prevent exclusion and to reduce the digital gap, which contributes to social division and may become a source of new inequalities. We consider digital citizenship as a priority objective for the schools of the 21st century. Schools must promote the responsible use of ICT by designing a series of activities aimed at both students and their families. That is why we aim at promoting digital competence in using its tools for the right purposes, acquiring the necessary digital skills and understanding their potential and limitations.

    OBJETIVOS

    1. The project aims at fostering a reflection on the use of the media, social networks and ICT by using the data collected from and evaluated by partner schools . Relevant data will be collected through surveys and shared by teachers and students, as a starting point to the building of a code of conduct towards a more responsible use of these media.
    2. Participants come from a varied range of countries so the project will enable us to explore how different schools in Europe address the issue of the media, social networks and ICT and what measures are being taken to deal with their impact on our students and our schools.
    3. The project aims at promoting students´creativity as well as improve students communication skills in foreign languages by carrying out activities and sharing results in English.
    4. Using ICT applications will enable and motivate participants to create specific materials which can be used across age ranges and curricula and should be suitable for further use and can easily be shared.
    5. This project will also enable our pupils to acquire a better understanding of diversity within their own community and to increase cultural awareness of and openness to European values. They will learn to appreciate Europe´s cultural diversity and contribute to a more active citizenship in the European Union
