Letter to a Swedish pen-friend

  • Hi, my name is Jiri and I’m from the Czech Republic, I live in Zlin. I’m twelve years old. I have got three siblings, two younger brothers and one little sister.

    I like playing computer games and surfing the internet. I go rowing three times a week and I’m intrested in planes.I don’t like reading book and I play piano, but I hate it. Do you do any sport?

    My favourite subjects are physics and geography, but I don’t like math. What is your favourite subject?

    We have got forty-five minutes lessons and ten minutes breaks. We don’t wear uniform. What do you wear to school?

    I like lunches in our school. There is a very good canteen.

    We have got some homework almost every day, but I seldom do it at home. I usually write it before lesson. And you?

    Dear Jiri Hello my name is Sevgi and I m 15 years old . I m have one sister and one brother.My favorite subjects is Music and history and I dont like math and natural sciences. Here in Sweden the lunches in schools is free . Sometimes is good tasting sometimes not so good tasting.It s always well balanced lunches in school.After each lesson we have break abouten minuters or a little more I usuallysit with my friends or if I have sonen samples I sit and study or buy any sandwich or I sit down and play with my mobile etc... In sweden you need not to have a special dress or uniforms to school you can come with any chothes that you want. We have on each subject one homework per weekend and almost one test per two weeks. I spend time with My friends. The good thing about living in Ostersund is that peaple are very kind and friendly and there is security and peace. And now it's yours turn to tell me about you From Sevgi.

    Hi Sevgi,

    I live in Zlin. Zlin has got 79 000 residents. In Zlin, there was a very big company producing shoes named Bata but it was nationalized after World War II. In the nineties of the twentieth century it become extinct.

    There are many small companies and also university in our town. My dad works at the university and my mu works at the nursing school.

    A visitor of Zlin can see many interesting buildings from the Bata company era and a very nice ZOO.

    We have got very good sport teams in football and ice hockey. They play the first league in the Czech Republic.

    Zlin is situated in a hilly countryside in a valley of the river Drevnice.

    At present we are preparing for Christmas. My mum is baking Christmas sweets. At the Christmas Eve we have festive diner where the main meal is fried carp. Then we unpack the presents and later we go to the church for the midnight mass.
