    Definition:

    Wapień – skała osadowa (chemogeniczna lub organogeniczna) zbudowana głównie z węglanu wapnia, przede wszystkim w postaci kalcytu.

    Calcário (do latim calx (gen. calicis) ou calcariu, "cal") é uma rocha sedimentar que contém minerais com quantidades acima de 30% de carbonato de cálcio (aragonita ou calcita). Quando o mineral predominante é a dolomita (CaMg{CO3}2 ou CaCO3•MgCO3) a rocha calcária é denominada calcário dolomítico.

    (Na Polónia, existem vários tipos de cálcio: sedimentar, mikrytowy, biolitowy e muitos outros.)

    Limestone is a sedimentary rock, made up mostly of the mineral calcite, a form of calcium carbonate, CaCO3.

    Limestone is applicable in the construction industry, cement industry and chemical industry, agriculture.

     

    Origins:

    The calcium carbonate is originally produced by living organisms. Later, some of it goes into solution in sea water. Limestone rocks include mainly organic remains and precipitated carbonate.

    As principais impurezas que o calcário contém são as sílicas, argilas, fosfatos, carbonato de magnésio, gipso, glauconita, fluorita, óxidos de ferro e magnésio, sulfetos, siderita,sulfato de ferro dolomita e matéria orgânica, entre outros. Lamestone Is made of the lime precipitate. 

    Examples: 

      

    Sometimes are formed limestone caves. The caves are making when the rocks are soluble by water. In this caves are created a stalactites, stalagmites and stalagnates. Also are created underground rivers and lakes.
