CEIP Ramón Laporta is a public school that follows the regulations and curriculum of both the Administration of the Valencian Autonomy and the Ministry of National Education. It has 540 pupils and 45 teachers. There are two stages of education: a pre-primary school which lasts 3 school years (children aged 3 to 5 years old) and primary, which consists of six grade levels, and the children aged 6 to 12 years old. The teaching staff includes teachers for all different levels and areas of expertise like pre-primary, primary, foreign language, music, physical education, speech therapy, and therapeutic pedagogy. There is a school counselor too for psychological and educational guidance. Some teachers, besides teaching, are in charge of the library, the laboratory, the European programs, robotics, ICTs, GBL ( game-based learning), and math classroom and we also have training coordinators, gender equality, and social harmony coordinators. Our school emphasizes significant support and efforts in the development of language skills and the achievement of high knowledgeable levels in different languages like Spanish and the Valencian language. English is the foreign language taught in all grades.
Our school deeply believes in the European dimension of education and cultivates a strong sense of European awareness for the entire school community: pupils, teachers, and parents, which is evidenced by the successful participation in eTwinning, Comenius, and Erasmus+ projects. “ You can’t love what you don’t know, nor can you defend what you don’t love” therefore our aim is to develop an idea of a common Europe for all citizens, not only in the sense of an economic union but also in the knowledge of our cultures and societies, of what unites us versus what sets us apart. And nowadays all of us are affected by a huge problem and we should be involved in the search for effective solutions: the environment and climate change. Joining this project provide us all a great opportunity to share actions to sensitize students about sustainable environmental development issues and also to use audiovisual resources, which are highly motivating for the students.
The school’s European Programmes Coordinator, Marta Amores Antón, will be the key person in charge of running the proposed project. We also have an Erasmus work commission made up of volunteer teachers. The school is involved in the teaching of new technology and STEM. All of our students have robotics lessons and the use of science labs is one of our major priorities. We are also opted for investment in new technologies and teacher training to be competent in their use. Teachers’ enthusiasm and volunteering have played a major role in the success of our projects. In addition, through our participation in Comenius and Erasmus+ projects, the school and its staff have accumulated valuable experience in this scope of multinational partnerships.
