Tres en raya - Spain

  • This popular game, usually played one on one on a piece of paper, has been modified to be played in P.E.

To play Tic-Tac-Toe, we use 9 hoops (board) and 6 cones of two different colours. Then we make two teams, ideally of 4 players, and we are ready to play.

At the signal, the first two players of each team run to drop the cone on one empty hoop  and then, run back to allow the next player to do the same. It'll continue until one team gets three in a row. However, if after the third cone we haven't secceed, we'll have to move them instead of dropping a new cone.

    Hope you like it!

We also have created our own tic, tac toe games in the Arts and Crafts class. It has been fun! First of all we designed our counters using clay, as we are in spring we thought in molding ladybirds, trees, flowers and snails could be easy to do. After that we learned how to use the ruler to make the grid. It war a  hard work to measure and make the squares!

We also learned about the ancient origin of the game and recorded a video with the instructions of how to play and a little bit of its history.

We enjoyed a lot making and playing the game! Here are some photos of our counters designs and a video to learn more about Tic, tac, toe in Spanish we called it "Tres en raya".

We hope you like it and make your owns at your school!
