    Introducing Vocabulary

I will use the texts to enhance students' reading skills and vocabulary words by combining the themes of the texts to those found in our curriculum.

BERNA ERGÜN-TOKİ ŞEHİT İKRAM CİRİT ANATOLIAN HIGH SCHOOL

We study on the texts on our online lessons. As we have chosen most common used words in the texts and in the university enterance exam, all the words are already in our curriculum. While reading these texts,we also revise many subjects which are thoroughly in our curriculum like tenses, modals, relative clauses etc.

We are having and struggling abnormal times during COVID 19 and lockdown of schools. We have to keep teaching online. At this point, this project is like a rescue team by preparing online material to teach vocabulary in context and via web 12 tools which are quite parallel to online education. We also share our contents with all English teachers who are working with Foreign Language Classes for University Entrance Exam. So our materials are to develop content according to 12 FL Elective English Curriculum. By working together and sharing tasks, our workload will become less heavy.

Sibel Kolay -Bodrum Ayşe Gülsevim Ali Rüştü Kaynak Anatolian High School

Vocabulary learning is an essential part in foreign language learning as the meanings of new words
are very often emphasized, whether in books or in classrooms. It is also central to language teaching and is of paramount importance to a language learner. Thanks to our project-WORDBUSTERS , we can use the usefull reading texts to learn new words during our distance lessons. We can encourage our students to learn new words by using exercices which are created by WEB2.0 tools .

Ebru Topaçlıoğlu-Trabzon Kanuni Anatolian High School

Vocabulary represents one of most important skills necessary for teaching and learning a foreign language. It is the basis for the development of all the other skills: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, speaking, writing, spelling and pronunciation. Vocabulary is the main tool for the students in their attempt to use English effectively. We have used all the activities of this project in our online lessons.

Rabia YAKAR-Niğde Cumhuriyet Anatolian High School

Studying three different texts per months has improved our students' skills necessary for teaching and learning a foreign language. They have also developed reading comprehension, listening comprehension, speaking and writing skills, spelling and pronunciation. We have taught vocabulary in context. The exercises we prepared through Web 2.0 tools are very useful for online lessons.

Nebahat ÇANKIRLI-GÜLÜLÜÇ İBRAHİM İZMİRLİ ANADOLU LİSESİ

Teaching vocabulary is about context and repetition– what our students need to know about the words they’re using, and using them multiple times.Studying on three texts with target vocabulary and the activities on target vocabulary helped students improve their vocabulary. We studied the texts during our online lessons since the learning outcomes were part of our Elective English curriculum for 12th graders.Students have also developed their reading, speaking ,writing and listening skills as well as pronunciation and spelling.Students also practiced and revised the grammar topics with the grammar activities about the texts.Students also learned WEB.2 tools .

OUR PROJECT WAS DESIGNED TO HELP OUR STUDENTS FOR SOME PROBLEMS THEY ENCOUNTER WITH WHILE PREPARING FOR THEIR LANGUAGE EXAMS THAT THEY WILL HAVE AFTER HIGH SCHOOLS.

THE LANGUAGE EXAMS REQUIRE A WELL-DEVELOPED READING SKILL, SO WE CREATED CHALLENGES FOR OUR STUDENTS THAT WOULD MAKE THEM STUDY DIFFERENT TEXTS ABOUT DIFFERENT TOPICS WITH COMPREHENSION QUESTIONS. AND ALSO, THEY LEARNT THESE TARGET WORDS IN CONTEXT INSTEAD OF MEMORIZING THEM, WHICH LED OUR STUDENTS TO LEARN THESE WORDS EASIER AND MORE PERMANANT WAY.

AS ANOTHER PROBLEM, SOME STUDENTS PREFER MEMORIZING THE WORDS BUT THIS WAY CAUSES OUR STUDENTS TO FORGET THEM IN A VERY SHORT TIME. SO, DURING OUR PROJECT, OUR STUDENTS STUDIED A TARGET WORD WITH MANY DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS SYNONYMS, ANTONYMS, FILLING THE BLANKS, MATCHING WITH DEFINITION, WHICH CREATED A MORE PERMANENT LEARNING FOR THEM.

    ŞAKİR ADIGÜZEL-ŞEHİTKAMİL BELEDİYESİ ANADOLU LİSESİ

When the project and learning outcomes of the English curriculum are compared, we can say that both will be integrated with each other in activities during the project process. The project provides the students with learner autonomy through collaboration, interaction, and communication in a safe learning environment at our schools because the curriculum suggest that students get support and guidance from their teachers, peers, learning materials, and learning tasks, In this sense, our students under our guidance will work in collaboration and will be encouraged to use the technology actively during the process. The students are in the center of learning process for all the activities. They will learn by doing.

    Gülşen ANAÇ-Zonguldak/Ereğli-Ereğli High School

We basically aim at improving our language class students' vocabulary knowledge in this project. Vocabulary development is the core part of any kind of language learning because without enough vocabulary a person cannot communicate properly in the target language regarding all the four skills. In our project reading passages in which the target words involved also provide students an opportunity to learn different subjects from culture to chemistry. This is exactly what is supposed from them in YDT exam, understanding the language within a context.
