Saving the World with Cody Roby

  • Marlene, our Austrian partner, has created a new Cody Roby Unplugged Game for saving our world.

    It is for students up to 8, 9 years, that´s our Rob Junior teams.

    Topic: How long does it take to rot?

    We will play in International teams: U9C4, C3PO, and R2D2. 

    Here is the board to be downloaded. Instructions are included. We play in teams and share the results below. Then they will be added to the international teams to nominate the winner.

    Every correct answer gets 10 points for the team. We will also count the time spent to give the answer to help to nominate a winning team.

    Please share your results (points and time) in teams on the TwinBoard below, they will be added to their International peers once everyone has played.

    I have created a scratch application that moves CodyRoby according to the cards, forword, turn left and turn right. It could be useful for the younger ones. My son made a mistake at the second one!!! 4th class. I will try with the 5th grade probably this week.

  • Cody Roby Unplugged Game for saving the world

    Our teams played the game. They did not do very well I´m afraid, we know we have to practice more Cody Roby activities.
    This is our score:
    U9C4: 3 positive answers in 15:48 minutes.
    R2D2: 5 positive answers in 15:56 minutes.
    C3PO: 2 positive answers in 20:57 minutes.
    We use our Class Dojo app to measure time and enjoyed the game very much, we will play again.

    My pupils were really interested in the game and they could hardly believe how long it takes for those different things to rot.
    U9C4: the group needed 14 minutes and 32 seconds
    R2D2: 13 minutes and 45 seconds
    C3PO: 12 minutes and 52 seconds
    All the groups managed to solve the tasks.

    We have just finished the CodyRoby challenge with my 5th grade students. Here in Greece, schools are closed so we tried to participate in this challenge via distance learning education. Students printed or wrote down the instructions for each element. In the 1st lesson I explained the challenge, the instructions and the code. We managed to complete 4 elements. In the 2nd lesson, we finished the 10 first elements and in the 3rd lesson we finished all the elements. One of my students scored 200 and didn't make any mistakes! Three students scored 190, two 180, one 150 and one 130. I was very pleased because they didn't have the grid so it was 2 dimentions and not 3. R2D2 team 40 minutes one student 200points, 3 students 190, 2 students 180, 1 student 150 and 1 student 130 points
