Experiment "Reaction between zinc and hydrochloric acid"

  • Reaction between zinc and hydrochloric acid
    Materials:

    zinc filings

    2 M Hydrochloric acid, HCl

    spatula
    Flask
    Balloons (optional)
     

    • Add a small amount of HCl into the flask
      Add a small amount of zinc metal to the HCl . Then we adapt a balloon on the flask and observe  the reaction.

     

    The concept is the following

     

    The greek students will be carrying out the above experiment and the French students will be observing.

     We need 5-10 min for implementation and observation of it.

    Then the French students will ask questions  and they will get the answers from our students. This will take 5 min.

    Possible questions may be

    1. Why does the balloon inflate?
    2. Which gas is released?
    3. Can you write the reaction?
    4. which reaction category does this belong to?

     

    We will use Skype again for this activity.
