EVALUATION OF OUR STUDENTS
The project was held at our school for the first time this school year. It was organized by professors Mačinko and Večerić and I really liked it. It showed me how strong women are and capable of great things. I would love to participate in such a project again because it is interesting and instructive not only for girls but also boys.

On Tuesday, February 11, 2020, lectures were held on the occasion of the International Women in Science Day at the Ivan Cankar Elementary School in Zagreb. Maja Mačinko, prim. Katarina Bošnjak, Martina Dragičević, Anita Cvetić Oreščanin, doc. dr. sc. Rosa Karlić and doc. dr. sc. Ana Sović-Kržić spoke about their scientific achievements in life. The lecture was attended by female students and teachers. A workshop for lower grade students was also held the same afternoon.
On International Women in Science Day, I learned many interesting things. I wasn't aware of the fact how interesting science really is and how many successful women scientists there have been in history today. I have the opportunity to get first-hand information because our teacher Mačinko told us a lot about her experiences at NASA. At the workshop, I was an assistant to the children who made a model of the rocket and later fired it into the air. It was nice and interesting.

This year our school was lucky and got prof. from Technical Culture (also a professor of Informatics who was chosen to represent the Republic of Croatia as a woman through participation in the STEM trip to America). She made an effort and, in addition to the competition in Technical Culture and many other obligations, dedicated this day to us students and invited many distinguished scientists to a round table. After the round table, where we heard the amazing stories of our scientists and managed to ask them interesting questions, we watched a short video. Successful women and scientists from around the world and employees of the JPL-NASA laboratory in America sent short videos, and our valuable prof. Mačinko combined it all into a short video and thus allowed us to hear so many interesting and inspiring stories. Then followed, in my opinion the best part, the presentation of prof. Machinko about his NASA experience and STEM trip to America.
All the students listened carefully and admired every story she told us. After the presentation, we all asked questions, and prof. Mačinko patiently gave us answers.
Unfortunately, the round table, films, presentation of prof. Macinko has come to an end! But luckily, all sorts of robots and gadgets we could try could be found in the hallway. Of course, the guys could try it too!
This day left a great impression on everyone and even gave some hope. Through that day, many of us, girl-women, realized that any gender can be successful anywhere, especially in science. I was very glad that the day went like this because I came to the conclusion that a woman can do anything a man can. Today in the 21st century, unfortunately, there are still men who discriminate women by saying we are only for the house and children. This day we are proving that we are not and that is why it was wonderful that our school decided to dedicate this day especially and make this day even better and more impressive for us.
Thanks for prof. Mačinko for all this. With the help of some others, she managed to organize and prove to each student that women can succeed. I believe that in some young hope she aroused desire and proved that she can be a woman as well. This day will really remain in the good memory of me and all the other students.

On International Women in Science Day, I learned a lot about women in science and had the opportunity to meet several Croatian scientists. They brought science closer to us and convinced us that science is not only for boys but that girls can do a lot in such jobs. I would like to take this opportunity to thank teacher Petra and professor Maja for their great effort and diligence to make this day interesting and to learn something smart.
