In October we will plant a tree in our school yards .
Students from different European schools will plant a tree in their schoolyard in October. We strongly believe that every tree can positively influence the life on our planet. We want to teach our students to think and to protect our planet.
The campaign is dedicated to eTwinning program and its 10 years anniversary, because for all of us eTwinning is what is the tree to the earth :)
The campaign is organized by SOU Ekzarh Antim I, Kazanlak, Bulgaria and it is part of the project "eTwinning tree".If you decided to plant an eTwinning tree, please send photos or video of planting your tree to Natasha Dzhurkova-

Today in our school yard I and my students have planted our eTwinning apricot tree. We were very happy, because we did very usefull work for our nation.
The origin of the species is disputed. It was known in Armenia during ancient times, and has been cultivated there for so long, it is often thought to have originated there. Its scientific name Prunus armeniaca (Armenian plum) derives from that assumption. For example, De Poerderlé, writing in the 18th century, asserted, "Cet arbre tire son nom de l'Arménie, province d'Asie, d'où il est originaire et d'où il fut porté en Europe ..." ("this tree takes its name from Armenia, province of Asia, where it is native, and whence it was brought to Europe ..."). An archaeological excavation at Garni in Armenia found apricot seeds in an Eneolithic-era site. Despite the great number of varieties of apricots that are grown in Armenia today (about 50), according to Vavilov its center of origin would be the Chinese region, where the domestication of apricot would have taken place. Other sources say that the apricot was first cultivated in India in about 3000 BC.

The maple trees are the symbol of Azerbaijan. These majestic trees are to be found in the Hyrcanian (Hirkan) Forest in the south and in the north of Azerbaijan. Ancient and mysterious, they are particularly emblematic of the natural heritage of the country. Their decorative leaves, large crowns and strong trunks have attracted the attention of naturalists, botanists and gardeners from around the world for centuries. One of the famous trees is in the yard of Khan Palace in Sheki. The tree was planted in 1530. Its height is 42 m, while the body amounts 13,50m width. The trees in the yard of the khan palace have been registered in the "Red Book" and are protected. They belong to eastern platanus sort. In Azerbaijani these trees are called “ Chinars”
