Mobilities

  • The 1st mobility in Budapest, Hungary (02-06. 12. 2019.)

    The 1st mobility of the project was held in Budapest, Hungary. The host school was the Petrik Lajos Bilingual Vocational School. During the mobility, the participants studied the architecture, the history and the society of Istvánmező and Tisztviselőtelep/Ganz Colony. These are 2 distinctive neighbourhoods in Budapest, which are not in the focus of tourism.

    On the 1st day the students had a teambuilding activity in the morning, during which they had the chance to get to know each other and the groups in which they would work during the week were formed. In the afternoon, Mr. Richárd Ongjerth had a lecture about the evolution of the city after 1873 and the establishment of the 2 neighbourhoods. Later, the participants visited the Buda Castle where they had a sightseeing tour.

    On the 2nd day, in the morning, the 30 students and their teachers were split into two big groups (Groups A and B). Group A had a guided tour in Istvánmező while Group B had a guided tour in Tisztviselőtelep/Ganz Colony. Both tours were organized and led by the volunteers of the Contemporary Architecture Centre (KÉK). The guided tours focused on the architecture of the neighbourhoods. In the afternoon, Ms. Barbara Szijj from KÉK gave a lecture about the different databases available and the methods of doing research. Later, the 2 groups had a workshops session to process what had been seen and heard in the morning.

    On the 3rd day, in the morning, Group A had a guided tour in Tisztviselőtelep/Ganz Colony, while Group B had a guided tour in Istvánmező. Both guided tours were organized by the teachers of the host school. The focus of the tours was the history and the society of the neighbourhoods. During the tours, the groups visited churches, museums, where they met with locals. In the afternoon, both groups visited the syangogue of Istvánmező. Later, they had a workshop session at school to process what had been seen and heard in the morning.

    On the 4th day, in the morning, the 2 groups had a guided tour of the "Our Secession" exhibition of Villa Ráth György where they learned about art nouveau interiors. They also visited the Szent István University's Ybl Miklós Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the partner of the host school during the project. In the afternoon, the students formed 6 groups of 5 and they prepared for their presentations at an IT lab at school.

    On the 5th and final day, in the morning, the host school organized a student conference. At the conference, the students gave presentations in groups. The 6 presentations were about the architecture, the history and the society of the 2 neighbourhoods (see Students' presentations page). After the students' presentations, guest lecturers gave lectures. One of them was Mr. Dávid Zubreczki, a journalist from Index/Urbanista, a national online newspaper, who talked about the importance of preserving cultural heritage in cities. The other lecturer was Mr. Daniel Cochran an online blogger and teacher who runs "Statues of Budapest" on Instagram. He talked about the way the communities interact with statues (see Lectures page). Later, the students and the teachers evaluated and discussed the whole week (see Evaluation page). For photos see the Materials/Images/Mobility in Budapest section.

    During the mobility, the teachers and the students ate at local restaurants and eateries, the festive dinner was also held in Thököly Restaurant, one of the local restaurants, and the teachers stayed in a nearby hotel. Thus, the project created a considerable income for local businesses.

     

    The 2nd mobility in Copenhagen, Denmark (13-17. 09. 2021.)

    The 2nd mobility of the project was held in Copenhagen, Denmark. The host school was the Borupgaard Gymnasium. During the mobility, the participants studied the architecture, the history and the society of Orestad and Vesterbro. These are 2 distinctive neighbourhoods in Copenhagen, which are not in the focus of tourism.

    On the 1st day the students had a teambuilding activity in the morning, during which they had the chance to get to know each other and the groups in which they would work during the week were formed. In the afternoon, Kika Kjærside, architect, former employee of BIG (Architect Company) presents a lecture about city architecture.

    On the 2nd day, in the morning, the 30 students and their teachers were split into two big groups (Groups A and B). Group A had a guided tour in the Workers' Museum and another one in Orestad while Group B had a guided tour in the Workers' Museum and another one in Vesterbro with Gadens stemmer(Voices of the Street).

    On the 3rd day, both groups had a Visit to Copenhagen museum. Guided tour about Copenhagen from the Ice Age to modern times. Later, group A visited Veserbro, while goup B visited Orestad.

    On the 4th day, in the morning, A representative from the organisation: Wonderful Copenhagen talks about how to promote a city. She gives a lecture with a lot of dialogue and interaction. In the afternoon, the students formed 6 groups of 5 and they prepared for their presentations at an IT lab at school.

    On the 5th and final day, in the morning, the host school organized a student conference. At the conference, the students gave presentations in groups. The 6 presentations were about the architecture, the history and the society of the 2 neighbourhoods (see Students' presentations page).  Later, the students and the teachers evaluated and discussed the whole week (see Evaluation page).     The 3rd mobility in Vilnius, Lithuania (06-10. 12. 2021.)

    The 3rd mobility of the project was held in Vilnius, Lithuania. The host school was the Vilniaus Simono Daukanto gimnazija. During the mobility, the participants studied the architecture, the history and the society of Rasos and Lazdynai. These are 2 distinctive neighbourhoods in Vilnius, which are not in the focus of tourism.

    On Day 1, after a teambuilding activity, the students and the teachers attended 2 lectures: “Vilnius past and development” by Architect Rasa Navickienė and “Go Vinius ” by the Vilnius Development Agency.

    On Day 2, the team made an Excursion in Lazdynai And TV tower and in the afternoon they attended a lecture: “ The social aspect of Lazdynai ” Viltė Janušauskaitė, Vilnius university lector, Doctor of History and Archeology.

    On Day 3, the team made an Excursion in “Rasos” and had a Meeting with Rasos colony culture center representative.

    In the meantime, during the afternoons, the students were preparing for their presentations in Friday.

    On Day 4, the team made an Excursion “Royak palace” and in the afternoon the students finished their presentations.

    On Day 5, the students' conference was held at school during which the students gave their presentations about the history, architecture and society of the Rasos and Lazdynai districts.

    The 4th mobility in Wroclaw, Poland (24-28. 01. 2022.)

    The 4th mobility of the project was held in Wroclaw, Poland. The host school was the Zespol Licealno-Gimnazjalny w Dlugolece. During the mobility, the participants studied the architecture, the history and the society of Biskupin and Sepolno. These are 2 distinctive neighbourhoods in Vilnius, which are not in the focus of tourism.

    On Day 1, after a teambuilding activity at the school, the participants attended a lecture and and had a meeting with the municipal authorities. In the afternoon, they had a tour around Wrocław with a guide.

    On Day 2, they visited the district Ołbin and in the afternoon they attended lecture in the conference room of the hotel

    On Day 3, they visited the district Biskupin-Sepolno, in the afternoon they attended a guided tour of the exhibition "1000 years of Wrocław"

    On Day 4, they visited the house of Edith Stein with a guide and in the afternoon the students were preparing presentations at school.

    On Day 5, the students' conference was held at school during which the students gave their presentations about the history, architecture and society of the Biskupin and Sepolno districts.

    The 5th mobility in Amarante, Portugal (14-18. 03. 2022.)

    During the mobility, the participants studied the architecture, the history and the society of Amarante and Marco De Canaveses.

    On Day 1 the students had a teambuilding activity during which they discovered the town of Amarante and the so called Romanic route.

    On Day 2, the  students and their teachers visited Marco de Canaveses where they met with local authorities and learned about how the branding the Tamega Valley is done. Later they visited 2 Romanic Churches and in the afternoon they visited the Roman ruins of Tongobriga.

    On Day 3, in the morning, the participants took part in a guided tour of Amarante and in the afternoon they visited the Museum Amadeo de Souza Cardoso where they took part in a lecture and guided visit of the museum, getting to know one of the most famous Portuguese painters, Amadeo de Souza Cardoso who was born in Amarante.

    On Day 4, in the morning, students were preparing for the presentations in 6 smaller groups at the school and in the afternoon the groups practiced the presentations with the teachers. Later, the teachers visited the nearby historic ton of Guimaraes.

    On Day 5, a student conference was organized. At the conference, the students gave presentations in groups. The 6 presentations were about the architecture, the history and the society of the 2 towns.

    The 6th mobility in Turin, Italy (02-06. 05. 2022.)

    On day 1 the participants visited Municipal Public Library where they attended a lecture about the history of Torino. Later, they took part in a sightseeing walk the focus: which was the society and history of Torino, Roman, Baroque, neoclassical architecture. In the afternoon  there was an interactive sightseeing in small groups in Piazza Castello and a visit at Palazzo Madama and at San Lorenzo Church.

    On day 2 the group visited Lingotto and learned about the history and the society (focus: the history and the society of the neighbourhood of the twentieth century, postindustrial contemporary architecture), later, they visited the Lingotto factory

    and the Carpano Factory (now Eataly). In the afternoon they visited the MAUTO museum

    On day 3 there was a sightseeing walk in  Borgo San Paolo guided by Fondazione Sandretto (focus: the history and the society of the neighbourhood of the twentieth century, postindustrial architecture, contemporary art) and a visit at Fondazione Merz. In the afternoon the students started preparing for their presentations.

    On day 4 the participants visited  SERMIG (Arsenal of peace), where they learned about the social impact of the post industrial architecture. . In the afternoon the students started preparing for their presentations.

    On Day 5, a student conference was organized. At the conference, the students gave presentations in groups. The 6 presentations were about the architecture, the history and the society of the 2 neighbourhoods.
