What kind of picture ... ? Joint chain painting outcomes

  • CHAIN PAINTING OUTCOMES

The idea to join two tasks came out during our Transnational Meeting 3 in Finland in September 2018. We made a chain of schools and each school sent information about 1 to 3 painters and their painting to the following school. And each school painted what the other partner suggested. We could choose if we paint a copy of the chosen picture or try to learn the style and paint a new picture.

    The painting chain was:

    Spain - Finland - Croatia - Italy - Romania - Poland - Czechia - Spain

More information about this task and the chosen paintings are here.

Croatian pupils got tasks from Finland. They used the painting style of Kullervan Curse for inspiration to paint pictures from Croatian folk legends.

     Akseli Allen Kallela: Kullervos Curse:

Romanian pupils got their tasks from the Italian school. First, they painted the given picture of a dog on a leash. And then they painted other pictures in this futurist style. They chose this painting because the painter is from Torino which is near our Italian partner school and this technique can be applied in many enchanting and interesting ways.

Giacomo Balla: DYNAMISM OF A DOG ON A LEASH, futurism

Czech school was the last in this chain and it took until March to get the task from the Polish school. That´s why Czech pupils painted pictures inspired by the style and paintings of Polish authors sent to us and also another Polish painter. We wanted to present our paintings during the Transnational Meeting 4 which was held in our school in March 2019.

    Władysław Ślewiński: ANEMONES, post impressionism

    Jan Matejko: ASTRONOMER COPERNICUS

Czech pupils painted pictures inspired by Polish painter whose pictures of astronomers Copernicus became famous. Astronomer Copernicus or Conversations with God is an oil painting by the Polish artist Jan Matejko, finished in 1873, depicting Nicolaus Copernicus observing the heavens from a balcony.

    PAINTERS OF PARTNERS

Czech teacher from class 2. A was job shadowing in our Spanish partner school in September 2018. She met our project teachers and introduced this school to her pupils. When we started this Chain Painting task, she asked if she could choose a Spanish painter. Our school was the last one in the chain to get a task, so we decided to paint famous pictures from other project partners´ countries during the Creative Winter Unit of our Arts Talk About Us Erasmus+ project.

Pablo Picasso: Lover in a Beret, cubism

    Class 2. A

    Leonardo da Vinci: Mona Lisa

Czech older pupils used a pencil and shade technique to draw Mona Lisa while we were waiting for our task from Poland.

    Amedeo Modigliani, Italian painter

    Class 2. A

While waiting for our task from Poland they chose to paint this picture.

Marcel Janco, Romania and Israel painter

    Class 4. C

Czech pupils were waiting for the task but it took too long and they chose Romanian and Israel painter Marcel Janco. He was the co-inventor of Dadaism and an important representative of Constructivism in Eastern Europe. He also painted in Art Nouveau, Futurism, and Expressionism style. He was persecuted in Romania and escaped to Israel. Our teacher likes this picture but she was afraid that it could be too difficult to paint a horse for her pupils.
