Tekkeköy İmam Hatip Ortaokulu, Tekkeköy- Samsun, Turkey and OŠ Vladimira Nazora Pribislavec, Croatia
Friday, 12th June 2015, 8:30 am – 10:00 am
The initiative for the online meeting came from teacher Elif Gençosmanoğlu from the school Tekkeköy İmam Hatip Ortaokulu, Tekkeköy- Samsun, Turkey. Seventh graders wanted to introduce us their works made as part of the project activities during this school year. Indeed, they had a lot to show! After the exchange of greetings and a briefly presentation of the school, a series of interesting presentations of student work related to various fields of Science and Mathematics followed. Croatian school team keenly watched all what the students from Turkey have made. Enriched by new experience, they got a number of ideas for further work.
The school team from the Primary school Vladimir Nazor Pribislavec consisted of 8th-grade students who attend IT Classes and actively work on the project throughout the school year: Ena Mihalković, Stella-Vanessa Jerković, Peter Lesar and Marko Okreša. In the organisation of the meeting students were led by IT teacher Iva Naranđa and English teacher Jurica Benčik. The meeting was realized in the IT classroom via Google Hangouts video call, which was a new experience for the students.
This meeting once again confirmed the value of work in eTwinning projects which encourage the development of eight key competences of which the stand out in this project are: communication in foreign languages, mathematical competence and basic competences in science and technology, digital competence, cultural awareness and expression. In addition, participation in eTwinning provides an opportunity for students and teachers to present the results of their work for free outside of their country, get feedback and find out about the learning in other countries and the similarities and differences between the education systems of different countries.
