      Agrupamento de Escolas de Vilela  is a school grouping  located 30 kilometres  away from Porto  City . The area is predominantly rural but it contains a mix of furniture industries and private housing.The educational system is divided into preschool (for those under age 6), basic education (9 years, in three stages- Primary- Basic 1st cycle  –ages  6-10-  Basic  2nd cycle-ages 10-12, Basic 3rd cycle ages 12-15 and  secondary education -3 years- ages 15-18), and higher education (university and polytechnic).
