Health week activities

  • HEALTH WEEK AT IES CABAÑAS

    We dedicated some sessions to learning about health and health-related issues. It was great for learning new vocabulary and expressions. 

     

    This is what we learned: 

    Oral comprehension:

    • Listenings  and videos on different topics related to Health with quiz questions from Elllo and EdPuzzle. 

     

    Oral production:

    • Create a video, following the models provided, on tips to follow to live a healthy lifestyle theme of their choice. (i.e. Tips on how to live without stress, be fit, eat better, etc.) 
    • Create a video, following the models provided, giving their opinion on public healthcare and the situation in their country.

     

    Written comprehension:

    • Readings on : Organic food, Vitamins, Health, Public Health, Smoking, etc. 

     

    Written expression:

    • Following the reading provided, students had to give advice on how to quit smoking and the benefits of a smokefree environment. 

     

    Content:

    Student learned the following vocabulary: lean, disciplined, pillar
    strenuous, instead of, deadline, realistic, store, cut down, track, battle, deny, secondhand, craving, policy, urge, top-of-the-range, get treated, universally free, taxes, coverage, feels funny, chunky, crunchy, prefer no to, veggies, as long as, blend, stick to something, etc. 

     

    Students learned to apply different modal verbs to give advice and orders, and the use of conditionals to give advice and talk about their experiences.

    • Elllo: Staying Healthy Quiz, Should healthcare be free?, Eating healthy
    • ESL Library (level: IntHigh Int): Smoking, Vitamins, Public Health, Organic food. 
    • BBC teens: A Generation of Couch Potatoes
