C1 -Critical Thinking and Media Literacy for teachers

    Content-The project agenda included
    -Opening
    -Introduction to TwinSpace(eTwinning)
    -General presentation of critical thinking, the stages of critical thinking development, the elements of thought and the presentation of the Socratic method, criteria for evaluating reasoning.
    -Q&A session
    -Debates on how to apply critical thinking into the current teaching and learning activity.
    -Workshop (practical demonstration) introducing critical thinking and media literacy into the current teaching.
    -Presentations on how to create lesson plans incorporating Critical thinking
    -Q&A session
    -Creation of pedagogical resources- outlining the framework and format of the teaching guide on critical thinking skills and media/digital media literacy as well as those of the flashcards to be used as teaching material and integrated into the current teaching practices
    -Debate: Opportunities and limitations of the integration of critical thinking and media literacy into the classroom.
    -Evaluation of the training activity. Awarding the certificates of attendance. Conclusions and closing of the training event.

    Metogology:
    A brief  presentation of the project and a theoretical presentation of CT were delivered followed by debates on how to apply CT . A practical demonstration of an English lesson (including CT and mass media on the topic of discrimination) was done for students from the 9th to the 112th grade. A question and answer session followed. Decision on a  framework of  the pegagogical resources to be created has been taken. Further oportunities and limitations for teachers, students and implementing such a strategy in school and to support the sustainability of the project were discussed. Monitoring and evaluation questionnaires were distributed and an oral evaluation and a session  for clarification followed.

    Results:
    -enhaced critical thinking skills
    -personal and professional development
    -set framework for the further development of the project
    -templates of the teaching guide and flashcards
    -improved management skills
    -improved English communication and ICT skills

    The participants- teachers of different subjects from the teams of the 4 partner schools( headmasters included)

    The training activities was directly related and integrated to the foreign language teaching practices of the school as teachers had the oportunity to observe a practical and concrete example of a teaching activiy dome by the English teacher with the students.
