Netiquette - how to behave in the Internet

Just as in normal life we need to follow certain rules of conduct. That's the only way to achieve a good relationship.

What does the word netiquette mean?

The word netquette is composed from the word "net" (Internet( and the french word "etiquette" (rules of manner). Netquette refers to rules and tips (especially in chat rooms, forums or other socila networks), which we need for good and safe interaction. On one hand these rules are to deal in a good manner with each other, on the other hand it helps us to protect ourselves.

Here are some rules!

• Always keep in mind that on the other side of the comptuter / screen sits also a person sits!
• Always stay polite and respectful!
• Insults are prohibited!
• Do not write only in capital letters, this is counted as yelling at the other.
• Pay attention to copyright (e.g. use only pictures that you made yourself or for which you have the permission for)!
• Make sure that you are not allowed to put pictures with other people on the net before you have asked them ("right on your own picture")!
• The internet does not forget. Therefore always consider exactly what personal information and photos you put on the net and what comments you write!
