    Tartu Town Hall Square

    is the trapeze-shaped central square of Tartu, surrounded by classical buildings. The current town hall is the third building that has been erected to that spot. In the 18th century, the square was the location of the most important market in the city – der Grosse Markt, or the Great Market. Since 1998, it has bean adorned by the fountain known as the Kissing Students.

    Arch Bridge

    Arch Bridge (Kaasild) is a pedestrian bridge between the city and the Ülejõe district. It is over the river Emajõgi. It is one of our town´s symbols.

    European Capital of Culture-2024

    Our hometown TARTU- is a European Capital of Culture-2024.

    The Logo and the Slogan of Tartu

    The advertising logo of Tartu was registered at the Estonian Patent Office in 1998. The slogan of Tartu, “The City of Good Thoughts,” was approved by a resolution of the City Government of Tartu in 1999. Artist Tiina Viirelaid is the creator of the logo and Aivar Viidik is the author of the slogan.
