Escape of Maths: Challenge 2

  • It is a dark and stormy night.

You fell asleep in class during your Maths lesson, no one has woken you up and you remained locked inside the school.

Your school is an old one, with walls peeling and full of moisture. A legend says that in it hovers the ghost of a student who had been rejected for 10 times in the years of his studies and at the end he remained as a janitor.

You try to turn the light on but the switch does not work ... From the outside you can hear frightening noises: the wind is blowing strongly and it is raining cats and dogs. Strong thunder shakes the air and the lightning flashes with their glow the window that is on the ceiling of the atrium. On your right you can see the control unit of the alarm system and you can see you need 9 digits or letters... but how can you find them?

Wait a moment! Your smartphone is vibrating! What is happening? A friend of yours has just posted a message on Facebook! Your friends on the socials could help you to exit from the school! Take a look at  "The post on Facebook" and check your messages...

Did you remember the number of the selected logos? Then you 'll have the first part of the code.

Now you are going to the ICT classroom... outside the storm rages and your are very frightened. Brrrr....

You walk along a large dark corridor and finally you can find the door to the ICT classroom. Fortunately it is not locked...

You get in and look for the post with the letters but you can't find it.

You start looking in the rubbish, but  nothing to find, the used papers, there it is!!

Next to the basket you find a note that says: “Steven, get the initials of the first names of the Maths teachers in alphabetic order and that will be the 2nd part of the code for the alarm system”. This is the code you were looking for!

You already have 7 of the 9 digits or letters, so you must still look for something. But what? What about the end of the code now?

Your smartphone has run out and the wind and rain are making more and more noise. You can't message with your friends on the social networks.

Now you're completely in the dark and you're groping back into the school entrance, where the glass ceiling lets you see something when there's a flash.

You can find the panel with the alarm system but from the few you can see the information you have obtained so far is not enough.

You notice a small piece of paper in the alarmbox. It says sum of the digits of the full date of the eTwinning Awards. In the next flash light you notice a newspaper on the ground.
