Timeline

  • Model of the Solar system as a permanent exhibit for long year educational purpose for intercurricular activities

    Task 1- Introductions (March 2019)

    Task 2 - Research information (March - April 2019)

    Task 3 - Make model (April - May 2019)

    Task 4 - project feedback (May - June 2019)

The aim is to present the Solar system and it's constituent elements from the perspective of, both, Social and Natural sciences.
Pupils will be able to develop their motoric skills by building a model of the Solar system. Their knowledge acquired in classroom and skill of reducing quantity of information on acceptable level will be applied by making labels about the planets and the Sun. In some tasks collaboration between pupils will be needed in order to successfully complete the task.

The pupils (from one school) will be divided into smaller groups due to their preferences ( approximately 10 students per subject). The task will take place during the school year (3-4 months).

    The tasks are:
    1) Geography - to build a model of the Solar system in school (due to the correct proportions) and to accompany each planet with its astronomic data as well as to investigate different theories about the origin of Space

    2) Biology - get to know the diatoms (lat. 'Bacillariophyceae, Diatomeae) as organisms that withstand the global warming

    3) Latin - to investigate the background of the names of the planets in the Solar system and to connect them to Roman and Greek mythology

    4) Chemistry - to find out about chemistry background of the planets as well as Space

    5) Maths - calculate the measurements and proportions in order to make a 3D model

    6) English - collaborate with peers and make a simple  presentation on our solar system.

It is possible to expand the tasks or even to create new one or include some new subjects.
