Germany - Bird migration

  • We worked in our lessons around bird migration. This is the regular seasonal movement, often north and south along a flyway, between breeding and wintering grounds.

On our poster we collected some info ...

Thousands of White-fronted geese, Greylag geese and Canada geese come to our region (Lower Rhine area) and spend their winter time in our region. In Summer they breed in the North and use some fields around the Rhine for wintering.

But as well some birds from our region (storks or cranes e.g.) fly to warmer regions for wintering and come back in April to breed here.

They come back normally about April.
