    Erasmus Days 2020

    The António Correia de Oliveira Basic School joins the European initiative #Erasmusdays aimed at promoting the Erasmus+ programme around the world and giving visibility to the activities organised by the beneficiaries of the programme.

    There are three days of celebration, sharing of experiences, promotion and appreciation of the benefits that Europe offers through the Erasmus+ programme, in a real dynamic at European level.

    Magazine "POETA" | launch

    Over the last few months, the Journalism Club has been in the field gathering documentation on the subjects to be addressed, interviewing, photographing, producing content on the topics to be addressed, establishing contacts with the privileged partners of this edition and, finally, editing and taking care of the design of the magazine.

    The school magazine "POETA" (thus named after the poet António Correia de Oliveira, patron of the Grouping) is today officially launched in digital format.

    On behalf of the Club, we have the pleasure of announcing that is already published, in digital format, Issue 2 of the Magazine "POETA", this time dedicated to the theme of Human Rights.

    Europe Day | May 9

    In the year that marks the 35th anniversary of Portugal joining the European project, our school joined in the celebrations of Europe Day, with some initiatives promoted by geography teachers and teachers responsible for Eramus+ projects .

    International Animation Day

    On October 28, 1892, the world's first animated film was screened: Emile Reynaud's Pauvre Pierrot. In 2002, the International Animation Day was created by the Association Internationale du Film d'Animation and is celebrated in more than 40 countries, including Portugal.

    It is a tool that allows drawing, animating and narrating their own stories, and thus developing, among others, skills related to imagination, creativity and, in this case, written expression and oral expression.

    International Children's Book Day

    On April 2, the birth date of Hans Christian Andersen, the International Children's Book Day is celebrated, drawing attention to the importance of reading and the fundamental role of books for children.

    Meeting with writer José Barroco

    On December 10th, the school library received the writer José Barroco, author of the book Benedita Catita e Sebastião Zangão, who was in conversation with students from the 3rd and 4th years of the EB in Esposende. This initiative is part of the Erasmus+ projects being implemented at the school.

    BOOK FAIR

    In December 2019 (13 & 14) our School organized a Book Fair in cooperation with Bartzoulianos Publications.
    During the Fair, the School hosted discussions (coordinator: Petros Dimitrakopoulos, philologist) with the following authors and comics creators:
    • Panos Christodoulou, director of «Network for Children’s Rights» about his book «Miracle! The sharks are dancing! ».
    • John Ragkos (author-journalist) and George Goussis (illustrator), about the process of comics creation, the combination of text writing-editing and illustration.
    • Christianna Loupa (author) about the sources of writers’ inspiration and the transformation of experiences, narrations and readings into novels.
    Book Fair contributed to the cohesion of school community, thanks to the participation of parents and students.

    In the scope of the Portuguese subject and integrated in Portuguese literature, the students went to the Circo Theater in Braga to watch the performance of Gil Vicente's ferryboat show. (February 2019)

    Through a partnership between the Antonio Correia de Oliveira School and Casa da Animação, in Porto, the partner schools had access to a series of selected films and to a competition at this international festival held in Portugal

    As part of the Erasmus Read to Animate Project, students of Portugal developed bookmarks dedicated to Portuguese literature, in the subjects of Visual Education and Technological Education

    The Reading Week, in which the activities developed celebrated reading as a communicative act of freedom and responsibility, in a dialogue between literature, art and science

    ALWAYS READ! READ ANYWHERE!
    It is subordinated to this motto, and with the objective of celebrating reading, the book and the reader, which will start the activities of the READING WEEK tomorrow.
    Meetings with writers, reading animation sessions, “Everyone reading | 45 minutes to go! ” (for 45 minutes, students, teachers and assistants of the schools of the Group, will be concentrated to read the favorite book, magazine or newspaper of the day), poetry recitation, conversations around the book and reading, exhibitions of works related to the projects of reading in progress, campaign and election of “book + cool”… here are some of the activities that will be carried out in our Grouping.

    The Hall of Fame Ceremony, which congratulated the students who obtained the best results and the activities / projects developed by the school.

    Throughout the 1st period, all classes in the 5th year from Escola Ant]onio Correia de Oliveira participated in sessions where they learned about the potential of the school library blog, not only as a channel for disseminating activities and the work developed and interacting with the educational community, but also as a tool to support the curriculum / study and occupation of leisure time.

    The initiative, which arises within the scope of the activities of the Portuguese subject area and the Erasmus + project, will include the sharing of readings made by the students, throughout the year, musical moments and the presentation of the Erasmus + Projects.

    Final party of the academic year.

    At the end of the school year, several activities were presented, in order to show and publicize the various initiatives that the António Correia de Oliveira School develops, namely those of the Erasmus projects and also with printed materials, promotional screens and information leaflets.

    Education Forum 2019

    In an initiative of the Municipality of Esposende promoted, from May 24 to June 4, 2019, another edition of the Education Forum, under the theme "Success: conceptions, challenges and paths". The António Correia de Oliveira School was represented in the panel of speakers by Teacher Teresa Felicio, belonging to the school's management. In this panel " A school of all and for all were presented various initiatives and activities that foster school success, namely erasmus projects.

    Animation Courses

    At the request of many teachers, two courses were held in the area of animation film: “Animation Cinema as a Didactic-Pedagogical Strategy” and “The Expressive Narrative in Animation Film” at the Independent Union of Teachers and Educators /SIPE

    "Kids to Vote"

    Until the 9th of April, students from the 2nd and 3rd Cycles of EB António Correia de Oliveira will campaign, together with their colleagues and the rest of the school community, defending the books they have read, and calling for a vote on the one they like the most. , on April 13, the date of the election.

    The partners had participated on the Anima Festival, in Mustla, Estonia with their animation films. Bulgaria win with the best animation film.

    Regular school assemblies in Poland

    A series of regular assemblies held at the start and at the end of each semester throughout 3 years, aimed to disseminate the project within the school’s community. Apart from showing achievements at local level the students also reported all international meetings on the way of presenting photo and video diaries of the meetings.

    The students were shown animations from partner countries to celebrate the International Animation Day during some lessons and after-school classes

    Regular meetings of student Erasmus club guided by local coordinator

    A series of regular meetings held on nearly all Fridays within school year throughout 3 years of the project, aimed to create numerous material products (thematic slide shows, videos, photo galleries, animations, book trailers) and non-material outcomes such as gaining new knowledge and competences within project themes and in English and ICT field. Dissemination activities were also planned during the Erasmus club meetings and preparations were made to attend international meetings (both as mobilities and online during the Covid-19 pandemic). The classes were attended by a group of 20-30 Erasmus students at a time.

    4 December 2018. Our project students introduced the Erasmus+ project "Read to Animate" and its activities to the public. Among participants were people from our school community and some parents of our students. The presentation was about our project goals and ideas as well as our amazing work visit to Portuguese partners who at the same time are the leading link of our project. The specifics of Portugese culture were very interesting to listen to.

    Estonian children books animation week

    22 February 2019 –
    "Estonian children books animation week". Exciting days in Art lessons where students were introduced to the illustration works of Estonian children books and learned about the artists. Later students chose their favourite and painted characters from the books. Characters like Lotte and Poku have won our students' hearts.

    Breathe life into a book. In memoriam Heino Pars

    Students had a bookreading day. They explored some books together and found their own fun way to animate it. A role model for that was, of course, our "father of animations" Heino Pars whose life and work students got familiar with. Also, some contemporary animators were introduced.

    Meeting for local activity about our project progress

    The students participating in project meeting in Sicily shared their feelings, learning experience and adventures during the trip and introduced the specifics of Italian culture. The meeting was open for school and local community. We also discussed the development and activities of the project so far and onforward. The audience gained a lot of knowledge about Sicilian culture and traditions.

    6 December 2019 project promotional activity.
    The students who participated in project meeting in Poland gave an adventurous overview for the school community of their activities and leisure fun during the visit. The differences in culture between Estonia and Poland were presented. The students also introduced the progress of the project activities so far and our future plans.

    Christmas decorations with a bit of illusion

    12 December 2018. Cultural activity aimed at introducing the traditions of our partner school.
    "Christmas decorations with a bit of illusion". The students who had participated in Erasmus+ project meetings shared their skills and knowledge about Christmas traditions in partner schools. together students created Christmas decorations with illusion effect, skills of which they had learned during the project meetings. Together lots of fun decorations were created. Also, students got familiar with the culture of our partner schools.
