ABOUT THE PROJECT

  • Our project is aimed at students aged 7- 10 who learn English as a Second Language and as a Mother Tongue. Schools are eager to start the interchange project which will enable us to getting to know each other, the places we live in, our schools and our traditions connected with celebrating different festivals.
    This project is based on the following ideas:
    - Children show their schoolmates from other countries their world, their culture, their traditions connected with celebrating different festivals and learn from each other.
    - Children will create videos, PPT presentations or any other audio- visual material in order to show other children aspects their own culture

     

    AIMS:

    With this project we aim at :
    - Improving our students´communicative competence in English.
    - Broadening their knowledge of other European countries, languages and traditions.
    - Promoting the usage od Information and communication technologies to overcome distance and share information.
    -To learn how to use different ICT resources
    - Foster respect and understanding towards cultural differences hence erasing stereotypes.
    - Motivate children to develop their materials with a social outcome.
    - To improve students’ writing and reading skills;
    - To embrace tolerance towards different cultures
    - To feel a part of the world;
    -To increase students’ motivation for lg learning

     

    The timetable of the project will be:
    November- get to know each other (a short presentation/ video of your students/ school/city/country)
    December- Christmas is coming- cards exchange and presentation (it can be a video, Power Point Presentation, etc) of one interesting Christmas tradition of your country
    January- New Year's Eve traditions and customs from your country
    February- one chosen tradition connected with your country, school, class, season, etc
    March- spring is coming- How you say bye to MRS Winter- traditions of your country
    April- Easter traditions in your country
    May- Mother's Day/ Family Day/ Parents Day at your school- how you celebrate it your country
    June- International Children Day- festivals connected with it at your school/ city/ country

    We can also add a festival of your own class/ something that differs us from other countries.

    Our main objectives are to increase our knowledge about the partner countries, their traditions connected with celebrating festivals, increase students motivation to know more about the world they live in and to learn and practice English in an enjoyable and meaningful way

    At the end of the project we will probably make an ebook or a poster that will present our work on it from November to June.
    There will be also a Online Quiz for all students about the partners' countries, traditions and the whole project.
    We also present the project on schools’ websites, Twinspace, we can create a project blog.
