Description

Create and solve mathematical problems in English and French. Exchange and collaborate with eTwinning partners to develop methods to solve these problems.

Age range

6 - 11

Aims

Create, understand and solve mathematical problems. Use numerical tools, photos, audio, visual equipment to present and solve the mathematical problems. English will be the language of communication but French will also be used for those schools interested in communicating in French.

Work process

Make a video or PowerPoint to show a mathematical problem. Other classes solve the problem. Share and exchange the methods used to solve these.

1. Make a video to set the mathematical challenge of your choice: specify the age of the pupils. Less than two minutes.

 2. Put it on the eTwinning space.

 3. Choose a problem set by another class and solve it.

4.Present the method(s) to solve the problem: photo in an exercise book, an audio or video explanation.

5. Discover methods proposed by other classes.

Expected results

The final product will be a collection of mathematical problems and the chosen methods to solve these. The Maths Challenge project will support and improve the teaching and learning of Mathematics within primary schools.
