Morzello is a typical dish of Catanzaro based on veal, considered a true symbol of the city of Catanzaro.
For a long time, between 1800 and around 1970, the morzello was the morning snack of laborers and workers.
The birth of this dish is linked to an old Catanzaro legend, according to which a woman who worked as a servant in a very wealthy family, had enormous difficulties in making ends meet the accounts related to the domestic budget and one day, to cope with such problems , devised a meat dish: a substantial dish, which could be stored for a long time and which allowed to use all the entrails of the veal that were normally discarded by the official cook of the family where he worked. So after so many trials I dug the morzello and called it that because it is cut into small pieces
