Carbonia has a unique history, both because of its quite recent foundation (1938) and for its ancient human settlements , dating back to the Neolythic Age and including the Nuragic, the Phoenician- Punic civilizations and the Roman domination. Some parts of its history are still mysterious. For many aspects Carbonia is an island in the island of Sardinia, because its inhabitants came from different parts of Italy to work in the coal mine, so they partially share the typical Sardinian traditions of the other towns and villages of Sulcis Iglesiente. My students' works will deal with different aspects of the area of the South West Sardinia.
