Specjalny Ośrodek Szkolno - Wychowawczy nr 1 (SOSWnr1) is an Educational Center for young people with special educational needs aged 16 to 24. The Centre consists of: * The Vocational School which organizes the vocational training in the following fields: tailor, purse maker, cook, confectioner, salesperson, auxiliary staff of hotel service, mechanic of car vehicles, construction worker. * School for students with moderate mental retardation which aim is to prepare them for self-dependent life and work. The schooling includes general education and practical skills in cooking, tailoring, leathercraft, art, carpentry. The centre provides the psychological and pedagogical care for the students as well as organises a wide variety of educational activities including sport and tourism. The center employs 69 teachers with appropriate qualifications. At the center operates "The Big Heart Association" which raises funds to co-finance all activities aimed at improving the students' living conditions, raising their level of education, furnishing workshops, teaching and promoting social attitudes of tolerance and acceptance of disabled people.
