Students' reflections:

In my opinion project „Through History to Present Day” was the best project I have taken part in so far. Working on the project we took part in videoconferences with Georgian students. They told us some very interesting information. I think the best idea is to work on a project with one partner school, because this way we can know the partner students very well and we know  who is who. I liked writing and reading Georgian letters. I have to admit it was difficult for me. I think I would never found so much information about Georgia and I wouldn't  know about Georgian-Polish relationships. The story of Valerian Tevzadze's life is very interesting. The project let me know that people are different and we always can communicate and understand each other and make friends.The Facebook group let us exchange some information and thanks to it we could know Georgian students better. A great experience was knowing Georgian culture, customs and cuisine. Mela.

Projekt „Through History to Present Day” podobał mi się najbardziej ze wszystkich projektów w jakich brałam udział. Podczas jego realizacji uczestniczyliśmy w videospotkaniach z uczniami z Gruzji. Dowiedzieliśmy się od nich bardzo ciekawych rzeczy. Według mnie najlepiej pracuje się z jedną szkołą, ponieważ informacje nie mieszają się w głowie i jest to wygodne dla każdego. Ciekawe było pisanie i mówienie po gruzińsku. Przyznam, że było to dla mnie trudne. Przypuszczam, że nigdy nie dowiedziałabym się tylu informacji o Gruzji, jak również ile nas z nim łączy. Podobała mi się historia Waleriana Tewzadze. Projekt nauczył nas tolerancji i pokazał, że można porozumieć się z obcokrajowcami. Grupa na facebooku umożliwiła nam wymianę informacji i lepsze poznanie uczniów gruzińskich. Wspaniałe było poznawanie ich kultury i obyczajów.  Mela

In a project „Through History to Present Day” I liked the videoconferences with Georgian students very much. I am happy I got to know Georgian traditional dishes and  and very interesting Georgian alphabet. I took part in a project group on Facebook, I wrote letters to georgian peers and I received letters from them. I was interviewed by a reporter from Radio Zet Gold and I talked about our project. Now I know who Valerian Tevzadze was. Working on this project I could use English language (videoconferences, Facebook group, letters, recipes). Dawid

W projekcie eTwinning "Through History to Present Day" podobały mi się videokonferencje z młodzieżą z Gruzji oraz to, że poznałem gruzińskie potrawy oraz bardzo ciekawy alfabet gruziński. Uczestniczyłam w grupie na Facebooku, pisałem listy do rówieśników z Tbilisi oraz otrzymywałem listy od nich. Brałem udział w wywiadzie do radia Zet Gold opowiadając o projekcie. Dowiedziałem się o Walerianie Tewzadze. Udział w projekcie umożliwił mi wykorzystanie znajomości języka angielskiego w praktyce (korespondencja, videokonferencje, grupa na Facebooku). Dawid

In this project I liked everything, but the most exciting part for me was making Georgian dishes. Videomeetings and Facebook group were a great experience for me. Writing and reading Georgian alphabet is unforggotable experience for me. After some attempts it appeared not so difficult as we thought at the beginning. I liked the meeting with the author of a book about ValerianTevzadze and a trip when we were looking for Georgian places in our town. Michał

W tym projekcie podobało mi się w sumie wszystko, a najbardziej przyrządzanie gruzińskich potraw. Ciekawe były też videospotkania oraz aktywność w grupie na Facebooku. Niezapomnianym doświadczeniem była nauka alfabetu gruzińskiego. Po kilku próbach okazało się, że nie jest to takie trudne. Mieliśmy również okazję na spotkanie z z autorem książki „Tewzadze – gruziński obrońca Warszawy” i poznaliśmy miejsca związane z Gruzją w Dzierżoniowie.   Michał

In this project I enjoyed the videoconferences and finding out about Valerian tevzadze's life ( meeting with the author of the book about him, making and watching presentations) and traditional Georgian dishes, for example gozinaki i pelamushi. I enjoyed reading and writing letters to Georgian students and watching presentations about Georgia. Kacper

What I like most about our project is learning about history of Poland and Georgia and writing Georgian letters. I am happy I am on Facebook group where I can meet Georgian students. Great experience is taking part in videoconferences and translating Georgian recipes, for example satsivi. Paweł

Najbardziej w tym projekcie podobało mi się to, że mogłem dowiedzieć się o historii Polski i Gruzji, oraz że mogłem nauczyć się pisać po gruzińsku. Bardzo się ciszę, że jestem w grupie na Facebooku, gdzie mogę poznawać uczniów gruzińskich. Fajnym doświadczeniem był udział w videokonferencjach oraz tłumaczenie  przepisów gruzińskich, np. satsivi.  Paweł

The best event on our project was the videoconference when we were speaking Georgian. I liked the contest about Poland and Georgia in English and the quizzes and crosswords online. Podczas realizacji projektu najbardziej podobała mi się videokonferencja, podczas której mówiliśmy po gruzińsku. Podobał mi się konkurs w języku angielskim o Polsce i Gruzji oraz forma przygotowania do niego (quizy w Internecie i krzyżówki). Grupa projektu jest bardzo dobrym pomysłem. პროექტი ძალიან საინტერესო იყო. თავიდან ვფიქრობდით რომ ის იქნებოდა მარტო ვალერიან თევზაძეზე, თუმცა დოკუმენტური ფილმის ნახვის შემდეგ  უფრო მეტი ქართველი გმირი აღმოვაჩინეთ რომლებიც ცხოვრობდნენ და იბრძოდნენ პოლონეთში. შევხვდით საინტერესო ადამიანებს ამბროსი გრიშიკაშვილს და რომანოზ ფერაძეს. წავიკითხე ა. გრიშიკაშვილის წიგნები "ქართველები პოლონეთში" და "წმინდანი და მეცნიერი". გავაკეთე პრეზენტაციაზე გრიგოლ ფერაძეზე. ვიყავით ლეხ კაჩინსკის ქუჩაზე და სკვერში. გავაკეთე პოლონური საჭმელი პიეროგი, რომლის რეცეპტიც გამოგვიგზავნეს პოლონელმა თანატოლებმა. მონაწილეობას ვღებულობდო სკაიპ შეხვედრებში, რომელიც ძალიან დამეხმარა ინგლისურად საუბარში. ეს იყო კარგი პრაქტიკა. წერილებს ვწერდი პოლონელ მოსწავლეებს და აქტიურად ვარ ჩაბმული ფეისბუქის გვერდში. პროექტის დახმარებით ბევრი რამ შევიტყვე საქართველო-პოლონეთის შესახებ, შევიძინე ახალი მეგობრები და იმედი მაქვს, სხვა პროექტებიც ასეთი საინტერესო იქნება. მარიამ დანელია

The project was very interesting. At the beginning I thought it would be only about Valerian Tevzadze, but after seeing a documentary film, we found out more Georgian heroes who lived and fought in Poland, We met interesting people Ambrosi Grishikashvili and Romanoz Peradze.I read A. Grishikashvili's books "Georgians in Poland" and "Saint and Scientist". I made a prezentation about Grigol Peradze. We were in Lech Kachinski street and square in Tbilisi. I made Pierogi at home. I had its recipe from my polish friends.I took part in skype meetings, that helped me in English communication. It was a good language practice. I wrote letters to Polish students and I am actively involved in our facebook group. Thanks to this proaject I learned a lot about Georgia and Poland, made new friends and I hope other projects will be so interesting. Marriam Danelia

პროექტი ძალიან საინტერესო იყო. ბევრი რამ გავიგე არა მარტო პოლონეთზე, არამედ მეორე მსოფლიო ომის შესახებაც. არ ვიცოდი თუ ამდენი ქართველი გმირი გვყოლია. შევისწავლეთ ინფორმაცია ვალერიან თევზაძეზე და მამა გრიგოლ ფერაძეზე. ინტერვიუ ავიღე პაპაჩემთან, რომლის მამაც ომის მონაწილე ყოფილა. პაპამ მომიყვა მისი თავგადასავალი, რამდენი რამ გადაიტანა და სახლში გმირის წოდებით დაბრუნდა. ეს ყველაფერი ვიდეოზე გადავიღე, ოღონდ პაპას თხოვნით ვერ ავტვირთე ონლაინში. მეორე დღესვე  ვაჩვენე ჩემს კლასელებს ეს ვიდეო. მე ამაყი ვარ, რომ ასეთი პაპა მყოლია. მისი აღმოჩენა ამ პროექტის დამსახურებაა. ვიყავი ლეხ კაჩინსკის ქუჩაზე და სკვერში. წავიკითხე წიგნები პროექტის ფარგლებში. ძალიან საინტერესო იყო ონლაინ შეხვედრები, სადაც გავიცანი პოლონელი თანატოლები, ვისაუბრე ინგლისურად, და ახლა ურთიერთობას ვაგრძელებთ ფეისბუქის ჯგუფში. ვისწავლე პოლონური სიტყვები და მიხარია, რომ ჩემს პოლონელ მეგობრებს მოეწონათ ჩემი წარმოთქმული სიტყვები. სალომე ნოზაძე.

The project was very interesting. I learnt a lot not only about Poland, but about Georgia too. I did not know that we had so many heroes. I learned the information about Valerian Tevzadze and  Grigol Peradze. I interviewed my grandfather whose father participated the the WW2. He hold me his storieson the front and he had returned home as a hero. I filmed this interview and showed it to my classmates, only could not upload it online, as my grandfather did not want it.I learnt so nuch about my great grandpa due to our project and I am proud to have such an ancestor. I was in Lech Kachinski street and square in Tbilisi .I read books connected to our project. The most interesting part was online meetings, where I mer Polish children and made friends with them.I spoke English and a little Polish. We keep on meeting  in our facebook group. Salome Nozadze

Our projet was diverse. I learnt a lot about Poland. We held meetings according to this project. I took part in the school conference and in video meetings.  I liked this project very much. From the project we learnt about those Georgian officers who fought for Poland. There were Valerian Tevzadze, Dimitri Shalikashvili, Grigol Peradze and many others.  I learnt a lot from our project not only abour Poland but about Georgia too. I found out that historically we have hd alot in common. I liked that Georgian and Polish students became friends, we have a facebook group and share interesting information there. I participated in the school conference.  I joined in this project from the very first day.The idea of the project seemed ver interesting and it justified my hopes. I made the PPT presentation about Poland in English. I consider I gained  great knowledge about Poland, that I will never forget. Online meetings were very interesting, where I had to communicate in English. At first it was difficult, but then I could, as I saw that the Polish children are like us and they try to speak English too.I think, this experience will help me to join in other projects and communicate with other children.  I joined in our project after the meeting with the author Ambrosi Grishikashvili. Then I studied about the history of the Shalikashvili family. I learnt a lot about Polish UNESCO sights. From this project I learnt what a beautiful and hostitable ountry Poland is, probably that is why Valerian Tevzadze, Grigol Peradze and other emigrants loved it so much and fought for its independence. I will do my best to visit Poland in future. Nika Mosiashvili

This projet means a lot to me and I am happy to take part in it. I made presentations abou Georgia, UNESCO Heritage Sights, Russian -Georgian War 2008. I also participate in the movies to help Polish children speak Georgian phrases. We uploaded them on the blog and let our Polish peers see them. This project helped me to learn a lot about Georgian-Polish relationship, we had meetings with the writer and Father Grigol Peradze's nephew. I enjoyed skype meetings too.  During this project I learnt a lot of interesting things about Poland and Georgia, Georgian heroes who are still remembered in Poland. I learnt more about WW2 too. I learnt lots of new and interesting things from this project. I found out about Georgian emigrants who lived in Poland. We talked and read about Valerian Tevzadze and Father Grigol Peradze. We had interesting guests at school. Romanoz Peradze told us about Father Grigol Peradze and showed us a film about his life. I liked our  project very much, especially skype-meetings with Polish students, where we spoke only English. I learnt Polish phrases, though they seemed a bit difficult the videos uploaded on our blog helped me greatly. The basis of all this was information about Valerian Tevzadze and Georgian officers in Poland. I took part in the conference and online meetings. Luka Kutaladze

Teachers reflections:

Project idea was created after watching the news on local tv about Jarosław Kresa's book "Tevzadze - Georgian defender of Warsaw" and I didn't expect we would be able to find out so much and meet so many interesting people. Thanks to Georgian partner we developed the project into such interesting one for our students as at the beginning when they heard 'history project' they didn't look very happy. Step by step, task by task the project was becoming more and more interesting for all of us. Even history projects can be interesting and exciting - meetings with the books authors and with Grigol Peradze's nephew made the project really valuable as this way students discovered new history pages for them. Looking for Georgian places in Dzierżoniów involved many students and now they know the places and share their knowledge with others. Through the history of both countries we have reached the present day what was really exciting for all students. Sharing photos, recipes, writing letters and videoconferences were extremely interesting for all. Polish students on their own were looking for some information about Georgia (also using materials from their Georgian friends) and presented the project in front of teachers and students of our school. They asked if they could make Georgian dishes at home - and they made them and brought to school and let the others taste them. What was really excited and cpmpletely new for Polish students - writing Georgian letters and words and pronounciating them. Thanks to this project we learnt a lot not only about history, but also about present in both countries - students found out plenty of similarities between our countries and now they are richer with their knowledge about Georgian-Polish relationships, knowledge about both countries today and friends from partner school. Facebook group let us all be in touch and students have made friends using English as a communication language. The idea of the project came from my dear Polish colleague Anna, who offered to work on it. It was the first time I myself heard the name of Valerian Tevzadze and it seemed exciting and challenging, so I agreed immediately and talked with my students about it. I chose students (according to their wish) from 2 classes, as they they showed their interest in it. Our first step was to see a Polish documentary with English subtitles and the students decided to find out not only about Valerian Tevzadze, but about other Georgians too. The information they found on the internet was not enough, so the School Headmaster helped us invite the author of the books "Georgians in Poland" - Ambrosi Grishikashvili. He praised the students for participating in this project, and told the students lots of interesting facts about contract officers. This was followed by another guest - the nephew of Father Grigol Peradze. Then reading books, that the writer gave to our school, searching for more information about Poland, WW2, UNESCO Heritage. Georgian students prerpared PPT presentations about Georgia, Tbilisi, Georgian and Polish alphabets, UNESCO places in Georgia and shared them with Polish peers. They learned Polish phrases and told them whole online meetings which were the summit of our project. We also shared with our cuisine and even prepared some at home. It was delicious. Facebook group helped the students be freer while online meetings. Their English communication was fantastic. They exchanged information about their school systems, about school lives, about traditionas holidays and about themselves. They used written communicative forms - sent letters to each other. At the end of the school year they were very sorry to say goodbye but I hope they will continue relationship through facebook group.
