“Education without Borders”
Erasmus International Meeting in Szignum school
Szignum Kéttannyelvű Egyházi Általános Iskola school from Makó, Hugary hosted an Erasmus+ international meeting called “Education without Borders” held from 24 to 28 May 2021 with the participation of five schools.
The meeting was a blended (mixed) mobility as a group of 2 Romanian schools took part in person, while partners from France and the UK virtually joined us during some sessions.
The theme of the meeting was "active citizenship", and within that we focused on voluntary activities. This line was strengthened by creating charity postcards in support of a local organization for children with disabilities called A.SZ.T.A. We collected garbage on the banks of the Maros river for a clean environment as well.
The Romanian delegation spent a day in Budapest, where our teacher Ildikó Mészáros guided them to the main sights. Since this day fell on Pentecost Monday, the actual professional work could only begin on Tuesday.
On the first day, the emphasis was on the introduction and acquaintance: presentations and short dances, singing and other performances followed one another. From our school, Nándor Gellért presented the lightning-fast unloading of the Rubik's Cube.
In the afternoon we organized a friendly football match where mixed teams of our 8th graders and guest Romanian kids played an exciting match.
On the second day of the meeting we visited the adventure park and the canopy promenade. In the afternoon the participating schools got to know the opportunities related to volunteering in their home country and shared good practices in this field.
On the third day, the postcards were edited, for which we learned how to use the canva.com interface. In the afternoon, we collected garbage on the banks of the Maroş and walked along the recently handed over educational trail. In the evening, at the garden party, we ate delicious BBQ meat, played and had fun.
The closing day of the meeting was celebrated with a short ceremony: we shared reviews of previous meetings, handed out certificates to the participants, and said goodbye to each other.
From an epidemiological point of view, we consider it important to emphasize that only one class from the host school was actively involved in the programs of the meeting, and most of the activities were organized outdoors.
