Sport, math and joy
About the project
The main goal of the project is to develop educational activities combining sport with mathematics. We will add creativity, collaboration, amusement and joy.
Aims
1. For some students math is difficult to understand and sometimes it is boring. Therefore, the first aim of this project is to stimulate pupils to participate in various sports activities / competitions that include various mathematical tasks.
2. The second goal is to help students develop attention, spatial and temporal orientation, courage, the spirit of competition and fair play.
3. The third goal is to promote strong collaboration between our schools.
4. The fourth goal is to help students develop their English vocabulary.
Work process / Proposed activities
1. Get to know each other
Each team will make a small presentation about themselves, their school, the location of the school, etc.
For the following activities we create tracks so that the students could run, jump, tumble, crawl, keep their balance,.... and solve a Math-related task.
2) The Friendship Map
Each team has prepared a puzzle of a map where the countries of the partner schools are highlighted using geometrcal shapes. The pieces of the puzzle are places on the track. Each member of the team runs through the track and finds the pieces. Finally, all the team members build the puzzle up.
3) Let’s play and calculate
For this activity the track implies a relay race. The final score consists of both covering the sports track and the correctness of solving the Maths task.
4)The Math Puzzle
This activity is similar to activity number 2), but it will be another puzzle with mathematical content and there will be other sports tasks.
Expected results
Photos and short movies will be taken during the activities and will be uploaded to TwinSpaces. A virtual album will be created with the activities of all partner schools.
