Easter in Portugal - Madeira
The traditional sweet sugar (torrões de açúcar) are one of the main images of Madeiran sweets on the Easter season. Very simple and quick to make, the clods can present different shades and tastes, simply varying the fruit.
Ingredients:
1 kg of sugar
½ l of milk
125 g butter
2 tablespoons of chocolate powder
nuts (almonds, walnuts and cider) q.b.
1 cup grated coconut pan
Confectionery:
Bring the boiling milk along with the sugar and half the butter, stirring constantly.
Add the coconut with the remaining butter and the ground nuts. Let it clear until making the road (when you pass the spoon, you can see the bottom of the pan).
When the sugar is off-white, pour into a greased pirex and cut into squares, with the candy still warm.
