SKILLS FOR LIFE

Today’s educational system does not draw on the practical aspect of the learning activity, whereas students focus more on acquiring knowledge which turns out to be obsolete most of the time in the context of a completely dynamic and changing labour market. It is obvious that our students lack digital and practical competences. Thereby they have to build up a strong motivation and they have to manifest an increasing interest in the lifelong learning process. Employers do not have the time to train their employees at the working place; on the contrary, they require that students should possess a wide range of competences even after graduation from highschool: organization abilities, abilities of efficient communication, digital competences, adaptability, responsibility, creativity, pro-activity. Unfortunately, these competences cannot be highly developed because of students’ busy timetable as well as because of the large number of students in a classroom. Some of these competences are slightly developed during the form teachers’ classes. These competences can be developed through extracurricular activities such as visits to different companies or participation in workshops presided by various personalities or specialists. This project is meant to comply with our students’ formation needs and it offers complementary activities that will be carried out both in a formal environment, integrated in the school curriculum and in a non-formal environment. Students must be prepared for life, must be able to choose their career according to their competences and level of knowledge. A graduate with solid theoretical knowledge may sometimes prove not to be a competitive and efficient employee. The main objective: of the project is to form and develop core employability skills with two subtopics: digital skills ( handle basic technology, read, write and compute competently) and core life skills such as ability to learn and adapt, listen and communicate efficiently, think creatively, solve problems independently, interact with others and work in teams or groups, lead or follow supervision.
