EmoClass

We talk about cultural poverty , students' difficulty in expressing emotions , in empathizing with others, and many have recognized that school needs to bring out the " unspoken words " teenagers can't say . Researchers, further suggest that reading and listening can play a vital role in helping people understand the lives and minds of others, and that individuals and communities can benefit from that ability along with literacy and analytical prowess. So far, our project aims at letting students “meet” different situations of life in books, newspapers, magazines, songs in order to allow them to enter different worlds , build empathy and improve their ability to take another person’s point of view. “It can even change your personality ... The emotional empathy that is critical to our day-to-day relationships also enables us to picture ourselves living as the characters do when we read fiction.” as professor Keith Oatley said.
