Salona was an ancient city and the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia. Salona is situated in today's town of Solin, right next to Split, the secound largest town in Croatia.
Ancient Salona is a significant archeological site over 2000 years old and it is closely related to the history of the city of Split and its founder, the emperor Diocletian.

Educational trip - Salona, ruins of ancient city
We need to educate ourselves in order to make a great historical map. So, we had our first educational trip to Salona - the ancient city and the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia. The name Salona preserves the language of the early inhabitants of this area whom the Romans called Dalmatae, and considered to be part of a larger group called Ilyrians Salona (or Salon) is situated in our town of Solin.
