Water and music

  • IL MOLDAVA

The Vltava is a symphonic poem written by Smetana in 1874.

In the SYMPHONIC POEM, Smetana celebrates the beauty of the Vltava river (from which the poem took its name), which originates in the woods of the Bohemian Forest and after having crossed the countryside, it reaches Prague and then flows into the Elbe, which in turn will throw in the North Sea.

It is divided into 7 parts: the springs, which are one of cold water and one of hot water going to cross, the hunt for animals, the cheerful dances of men at the wedding, the dance of the nymphs in the moonlight (which is the most imaginative part of the symphony), the rapids of St. John, the castle of Vyšehrad accompanied by the national anthem and finally the entrance into the city of Prague.(Wikipedia)

The music describes the flow of the river, the images and the sounds it collects during
    his journey
