Armenia: Yerevan

 

Yerevan is one of the oldest cities in the world. You can admire the Mount Ararat at every corner of the city. In 782 BC king Argishty I built the fortress Erebuny in south-east of Yerevan and left a cuneiform about that event. It means Yerevan is older than Rome.

Now Yerevan is a modern city with an estimated 1.100.000 people living in it. Yerevan is the political, economical, cultural, educational centre of Armenia. It is attractive with its museums, squares, galleries, theatres, universities and parks.

Great Armenian architecture Alexander Tamanyan has made the projection of the city in 1924. The projection gave opportunity to see the Mount Ararat from every building.Yerevan is famous for its points of interest, cold water and, of course hospitable people.Yerevan is an ancient but a young city at the same time. It is a hospitable city, full of hope, faith and love and is always ready meet its guests.

 

Greece : Inoi - Kastoria

Inoi   is a mountainous village of Kastoria just a few kilometers from the border with Albania. Its called Inoi  because most residents came from Inoi of Pontos  and settled here in 1923. The habitants are currently working mainly in farming and fur.The region of Kastoria  has very long history. The lake settlement and Neolithic settlement dating down 5000 b C .  The area of Argos Orestiko is history from the time of Alexander the Great and later the Romans. Prominently and fortified position in the Lake was the ancient KELETRON which was fortified in Byzantine times and was named Kastoria. Name derived from the beavers (Kastores)  who lived at the lake.The most important monuments of Kastoria is 71 Byzantine churches with unique architecture and rich illustrations. Important monuments are also the many mansions of the 18th and 19 century, era of fur processing.Kastoria is one of the most beautiful cities of Greece with natural beauty, rich history and cultural monuments.Elisabeth Totonidou, Sofi Karagiannindou
