1. A short presentation of our school:

 

The official name of our school is Osnovna šola Mladika - Primary School Mladika and it is the oldest school in Ptuj, located by the Drava river bank, in the eastern part of town. It was first built in 1902 and was an all girls school. Because it was so charming, it was nicknamed "Beauty by the River" (http://www.kamra.si/sl/digitalne-zbirke/item/mladika-lepotica-ob-dravi.html).

After the first world war, German remained the primary teaching language, due to a shortage of Slovene teachers, however by April 1919, the last German teacher left the school. 

In April of 1941 Ptuj was occupied by the German army. All Slovene schools were closed, the teachers deported to Croatia or Serbia. The school was now inhabited by German teachers, many of them having no suitable education.

After the war it was not possible for the teaching process to be carried out in Mladika, since it had been in ruins, therefore schooling was enabled on several different locations around town. Meanwhile the city authorities agreed on rebuilding the school and it was reopened in 1948, under the name Osnovna šola Toneta Žnidariča. In 1991 it was renamed Mladika, as it had originally been called. 

The school principal today is Bogomir Širovnik and the school is currently attended by 352 pupils. The school employs 35 teachers. 

The school has previously taken part in Comenius projects. We greatly care about the environment and implementing healthy eating habits, therefore we are part of projects called Healthy school and Eco school. We always strive towards making education better and tailored to the needs of the individual student. 

 

Der offizielle Name unserer Schule ist Osnovna šola Mladika - Grundschule Mladika und es ist die älteste Schule in Ptuj. Sie liegt an der Drau, im östlichen Stadtteil. Sie wurde 1902 erbaut und war zu der Zeit eine Mädchenschule. Weil sie so bezaubernd war, bekam sie den Spitznamen "Die Schöne am Fluss". 

Nach dem ersten Weltkrieg, blieb Deutsch die Unterrichtssprache, da ein Mangel an Slowenischen Lehrern bestand. Jedoch bis April 1919, verließ der letzte Deutsche Lehrer die Schule.

Im April 1941 wurde Ptuj von der deutschen Armee okkupiert. Alle slowenischen Schulen wurden geschlossen, die Lehrer nach Kroatien oder Serbien deportiert. In der Schule ließen sich deutsche Lehrer nieder, viele von ihnen ohne entsprechende Ausbildung. 

Nach dem Krieg war es nicht möglich den Unterrichtsprozess in Mladika fortzuführen, da sie in Trümmern lag. Deshalb verlief der Unterricht an verschiedenen Standorten der Stadt. Glücklicherweise entschied sich die Stadtverwaltung die Schule zu renovieren und 1948 wurde sie, unter dem Namen Osnovna šola Toneta Žnidariča, erneut eröffnet. Seit 1991 trägt sie wieder den Namen Mladika, wie zu Anfang. In diesem Schuljahr wird die Schule von 352 Schülern besucht. Mladika beschäftigt 35 Lehrer. 

Die Schule hat in der Vergangenheit an Comenius Projekten teilgenommen. Besonders am Herzen liegt uns die Umwelt, sowie auch den Schülern beibringen, wie sie sich gesund ernähren sollen und aus diesen Gründen nehmen wir auch an Projekten wie Gesunde Schule und Öko-Schule teil.
