Our project

  • European Tale-Bot : the storytelling robot

This project is a project which link tales and coding. This a project for pre-school and primary pupils. Pupils will study classic tales, native/traditional tales and learn through collaboration about tales from different countries. They will also discover and learn how to code small robots : Beebot, Bluebot and Thymio. Then they will create and exchange carpets of the tales, code their robots to “tell the tale”. The final production is to create a collaborative tale and code it in collaboration.

This multidisciplinary project has for objectives to :

    - compare tales from different countries

    - collaborate with pupils so as to create a tale

    - collaborate with pupils so as to create codes

    - listen to tales in other languages

    - speak English / French / Greek / Italian / Spanish  in real communication

    - learn about pupils who work with us  by making games and one or several videoconference during all the      school year.

    - validate ICT, English, French, Greek, Italian, Spanish literature and coding skills

make students aware of international collaboration by learning to work otherwise, through cooperation.

    Work process

    December to January :

    1. Αcquaintance between students and schools and each one’s presentation by a video.

    2. Create and exchange Christmas cards or card

    3. Have video-conference by singing Christmas carols.

    4. Show teaching code presentation or show our robots in action in an activity like “find the path from Greece to Italy or from Italy to France…” on the european map.

    5. Vote for our common classic tale between “Three little pigs”,  “The Story of the Three Bears”,  “Little Red Riding Hood” and  “The Ugly Duckling”

    6. Record the classic tale in native tongue subtitled in English (using the same photos of the tale and audio recording of the reading to make a video)

    7. Create a cooperative digital book with the tale in each one’s language

    8. Create from each school its own carpet of the tale and send it from partner to partner or live presentation in  https://hourofcode.com/ie.

    9. Code small robots to “tell the tale”

    February to March

    1. Presentation of the pupils through videos, videoconferences or games.

    2. In each country, choose one native/traditional tale with a common hero : the wolf.

    3. Present to all partners the native/traditional tales with a video in native tongue subtitled in English

    4. Create a cooperative digital book to compare tales with wolf from each country : still the “bad guy?”

    5. Create for each school the carpet of the native/traditional tale from another country (with places and the main characters)

    6. Code small robots to “tell the tales”.

    7. Send each carpet from partner to partner or live presentation.

    April to June

    1. Create tales dice with main characters and places. Having a videoconference to throw dices so as to choose the main characters and places of our collaborative tale

    2. Write the collaborative tale.

    3. Create a video with native narration and students’ drawings (one from each country)

    4. Create a collaborative carpet tale, which would travel in every partner’s country

    5. Code small robots to “tell the tales”

    6. Prepare a dramatization of our tale and share it live in a video conference

    Expected results

Having as final production a collaborative “European Tale-bot”

For our pupils :  knowledge on the tales which will have been teached, progress in the oral and written language used by the pupils, amplified curiosity concerning relationships and working in collaboration, better one self-respect and a behavior more asserted in front of the group, civic and public-spirited behavior in choices to be made in the name of the group and for the project in its entirety, get familiar to new ICT tools as small robots.

For teachers : Exchange teaching practices, ICT tools, new human and professional discoveries and meetings.

For the community : An opening of the school towards the outside.

For parents : See different works in class.
