Our project

  • About the project

    The essence of this project is our common wish to make all our pupils active and free citizens. For that purpose, we want to make their cites accessible to all the pupils, whatever their origin and beyond the économic, cultural or linguistic obstacles they meet. We wish that all the pupils allow themselves to become actors of the territories they live : their school, their district, their city, their country, Europe.

    It is by the knowledge of their own culture and its specificities that the children will discover the culture of the other countries, wonder about the similarities and the différences and thus grasp an objective illustrated by the motto of European Union : United in diversity. It is more widely a question of bringing the children to build themselves an European culture through the discovery of five particiting cities : Athens, Belfast, Paris, Rome and Tallinn.

    The first step will be to go to the rediscovery of their own environment, their school and their district, in order to share it with the partners schools. Then the children will explore their city discovering its main monuments, its means of transport, the vision of their city by the artists. Finally, they will wonder how they can participate actively in the préservation and in the embellishment of their environment by simple ecological gestures.

    It is by the exchange of the productions of each school that the children will discover the patrimony of the partner cities. The educational teams, thanks to the exchanges of good practices in particular during the transnational meetings, will strengthen their professional skills. These different exchanges will be very efficient to help pupils to succed in their learnings.

    Aims

    A major objective of this project is to motivate the pupils and to become real actors of their learnings thanks to the study of "concrète" subjects, close to them, and thanks to the desire to communicate with pupils from other European countries. To realize the activities of the project, the children will have to mobilize interdisciplinary skills such as language, digital or artistic skills for example. Concrète productions that every pupil can appropriate will contribute to create a group dynamic. It will be very usefull for the pupils starting to learn our langage and will help their inclusion. The main topic of the project is particularly adapted to the pupils firstly newcomers : taking time to discover their new place of life, to appropriate it, to take its full citizen place in line with the European Union values.

    Disciplinary skills worked

    Through the study of the actions described above, the implementation of concrete activities, school and disciplinary skills were studied: - linguistic skills (translation / writing of documents for oldest pupils, writing legends, e-mails exchanged within the framework of the project, awareness of learning a language other than his own to communicate with others); - digital skills (consult a web page, search for relevant information, write or read an email, discover the productions of other countries on the collaborative site, download the productions of the partners and deposit their own, work on office software and of presentation ...); - artistic skills through productions addressed to our partners at the end of each activity; - cultural competences through the discovery of one's own heritage, its transmission and the discovery of the heritage of other cities and partner countries; - skills in history and geography for each country, but also on the construction of Europe, its reasons, the values it carries and its symbols.

    The students worked cooperatively.

    Results

    For our pupils

     I. Concrete results:

    1.1. Pupils productions at the end of each activity. These productions are divided into two parts:

    1. .a. Constrained productions: the creation of 12 pairs of memory cards at each activity. The 5 teams wanted to think about a common production for each activity that can be used to learn by students from 3 years old as 12 years old.

    These memorys have several functions :

    •  visual learning that allows all students to be included, both in their implementation and in their use, with or without language skills and to initiate a quick and effective learning for all;
    • the recognition of the characteristics of a country (flag, recurrent colors, street furniture, monuments, recognition of its alphabet, its words, etc ...) ;
    • recognition of the European flag which will be part of the regular universe of students.

    These memories will be added to each other and will allow efficient memorization and remembrance to retain the characteristics of the five countries without mixing them. The systematic visual association of the country's flag and images will allow this learning to be effective.

    1. b. Free productions : each team has the freedom to do what she wants with pupils.

    II. intangible results:

    - Pupils will develop observing, thinking, planning, communicating and investigating skills

    - Pupils will develop of a sense of belonging to European citizenship and an ability to open up to others
