SUMMARY
THE HAPPY PRINCE
This story is about a statue of a Prince who had jewels instead of eyes and rubies on his sword.
One day a little swallow came close to him and sat under the statue. The swallow realized that the Prince was crying only to find out, after asking him some questions, that he was sad because from that height he could see all the poverty around him.
The Happy prince asked the swallow to help him help poor people by giving every time one of his precious jewels to several people. The swallow agreed but as the time passed winter came and the little swallow couldn't go back to hotter countries.
Cold weather was the reason of swallow's death. It died under the statue. One day the mayor of the city looking upon the ugly statue, all his jewels and gold had gone away, he decided to destroy the statue and also throw away the swallow found on statue's feet.
Both the swallow's and the Prince's soul were found close to God in paradise.
The message of this beautiful tale is that we must help and care for poor people by giving them as much help as we can. In that way ours souls will rest in peace close to God.
