    First we had learned about the space. Watched videos from space and astronauts lifes. Weared astronaut hats and made a drama activity. We dreamed that we went to moon with a space rocket. We walked at moon and took some little rocks from their. And then we came back to our world. We looked for the rocks in kinetic sand. And then we designed the rockets and moved them into the space (You can see more photos in picture folder)

    Activity 1:

    Our first attempt on engineering: Building the houses of 3 little pigs!!! After reading this favolite childrens' book, we decided to give it a try!!! Our hay house was build with yard leaves, our wooden house was built with tree bark from our yard as well, and our brick house was build with plastic cubes (from the mathematics corner).

    Activity 2: We built a well-known building of our country!

     

    While learning about  one of our national holidays, Polytexneio (Polytechnic Academy of Athens) came to our attention and children wanted to try and build it in the construction corner! This is the outcome using wooden bricks, from two of our groups and the blueprint used after watching the real photos..

    We are about to start the WIND project. It begins with an old tradition that takes place on the first Monday of the 40 days fasting before easter. It is the kite flying

    PIPECLEANER STEMCHALLENGE

    Accodring with STEM DISCOVERY WEEK we make this activity very intersting for the children, they learnt to work cooperatively

    Rules

    1. Group students into teams  of 4

    2. Pass out bundles 15 pipe cleaners to each group

    3. Instruct students that each engeneering team is tasked the build the "TALLEST FREE-STANDING STRUCTURE" with the materials provided (10 minutes)

    4. after working for 2-4 minutes tell students to freeze : each team must now put one arm behind his/her back

    5. 2-4 minutes more: freze again . Continue the task without speaking.

    6. 1-2 minutes complete the task using all resources: materials, arms and voice!

    7. At the end each group explain how have worked and give the title to the "STRUCTURE".
