Glagolitic is a type of alphabetic script that was conceived, ie completely originally created in the middle of the 9th century with the aim of easier writing of Slavic languages for the needs of spreading Christianity among Slavic peoples. This letter was created for the speech system of the Thessaloniki area, on the basis of which the first Slavic literary language was developed: the Church Slavonic literary language. There are about forty theories about the origin of the Glagolitic alphabet, presented by prominent world and Croatian historians, paleographers and linguists.
