    BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Nutrition is the foundation for health, and it affects every student in your class. In this project, students will learn about nutrition through real-world applications and they will share and reflect about their food habits together with the partner students.

    OBJECTIVES

    • Learn and use new vocabulary and expressions about food and alimentation

    • Reflect on their food habits and their consequences

    • Develop creativity in a foreign language

    • Develop self-expression and critical sense

    • Implement social skill and spirit of entrepreneurship through work groups

    • Get the students in contact with people from other countries

    • give the students the opportunity to develop further contacts with those people

    ACTIVITIES

    Step 1 (November/December)

    Presentation

Pupils write a short paragraph where they describe themselves. In the partner school, all students take one of the descriptions and create an avatar of their peer (with https://avatarmaker.com/). Finally the students post the avatars they created on a TwinBoard. This avatar can also be used as their profile picture in the TwinSpace.

    Step 2 (December)

    Create a logo

Students work in groups to create a logo for the project. On a Twin Poll the students can vote for their favourite logo and decide the official logo of the project.

    Step 3 (January/February)

    One snack per day

In class, together with the teacher, the students create a snack schedule for the partner class. The schedule must contain 5 different types of snack considering the nutrition facts (carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins…), for example: fruit, yoghurt, crackers, biscuits, sandwich… They also create a questionnaire about the effects of each different type of snack (Are you still hungry? Do you feel sleepy? Did you like it? …). Teachers/students create the questionnaire on Google Form. The partners follow the schedule and answer the questionnaire. The results are published on TwinSpace. Discussion and reflection in class (data analysis)

    Step 4 (March/April)

    Traditional recipes tutorials

Divided in groups, the students create a tutorial (video/Power Point…) for a traditional Italian/Spanish recipe with nutrition facts. They post them on TwinSpace in order to share them with the partners. Discussion and opinions on the TwinSpace blog/chatroom.

    Step 5 (May)

    Traditional recipes exchange

Following the tutorials, the students try to prepare the partners’ recipes.
