Rapid changes caused by technologies, globalization, and socio- economic crisis have influenced people's lifestyles, ways of communication, relationship, traditions, attitudes towards education and learning, participation in community life and leisure time. Nations have become multicultural, therefore schools have faced lots of challenges. These include integration, multilingualism, a demand for new skills such as global and multicultural literacy, leadership, teamwork, collaboration, cooperation, civic literacy and creativity. Schools have to create an accessible and safe school environment for applying innovative teaching methods fostering critical thinking, problem solving and reasoning, analysis, interpretation and research practices. The fast pace of life and socio- economic changes have influenced family life, too. Unemployment, immigration, social inequality have directly affected pupils' performance at school. Noticeable changes in pupils' behaviour and attitudes towards learning and participation in community life have led to negative consequences, such as students have become violent, lacking motivation, intolerant and indifferent towards school and community issues.
All six schools participating in the project, though to different extent, have already experienced the factors, which have been mentioned. As a consequence, we as teachers should become the ones who have to drive change, advocating innovative learning practices and mediating between learners and institutions to build a society of productive, involved and responsible young citizens, capable of reacting and thinking independently on contemporary issues. Due to Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations “No one is born a good citizen; no nation is born a democracy. Rather, both are processes that continue to evolve over a lifetime. Young people must be included from birth. A society that cuts itself off from its youth severs its lifeline". This quotation inspired the teachers of six European countries to bring their ideas together for creating a project Creative European School: C.L.I.C.K. The word CLICK is an abbreviation of the English words indicating that we shall use Computer science, Languages, Interculture, Citizenship, Knowledge as the cornerstones on which we hope to pave the way to successful and innovative European school using creativity, innovative methods of teaching and learning. The issues we intend to analyse have an international dimension, so we believe that collaborative and creative work will help to solve the issues overlooked above and find the right ways for raising children' s well-being, promoting their social inclusion, fostering the skills a modern citizen of EU requires, searching for new and effective ways of teaching and problem solving, raising awareness of new cultures and traditions, promoting literacy skills, to create such a school where every child will feel safe, respected and valuated. The project addresses the most vulnerable group of children - teenagers, aged 12-16, teachers of different subjects, parents and school managements and other school staffs such as social pedagogues, psychologists. The main aims of the project are:
