ABOUT THE PROJECT
The aim of the project is to help European students to discover some of the
characteristical aspects of the musical heritage of their own region and nation and to compare it to that of their counterparts, with a view to fostering a sense of belonging to an extended community bound together by common roots and values and by an understanding of and respect for mutual diversity. We will become aware of how the European civilization developed and created their cultural heritage as the oldest human trait. By looking at dances and popular songs, it is possible not only to learn about particular types of music and instruments but also to explore the pattern of life and thinking, the history and the traditions of the involved Nations. Music, lyrics, images, film clips and comments will be organized into presentations. The project will widen and enrich the aims and activities, increasing geographical richness and musical traditions with a larger partnership.
AIMS:
- to widen students’ horizons
- to question ourselves in order to overcome limits
- to spread and enhance the Folk Music experience and Folk Traditions at the European level
- to investigate the tradition of the Countries involved and find common features in terms of instruments, tunes, tales and stories
- connecting to the past, to certain traditions
- increase overall cultural knowledge with a focus on traditional dances
- to learn more about European diversity
- to learn about the beauty of European folk culture
- to become better at public speaking
WORK PROCESS:
Our project will be implemented from mid October 2021 and December 2021 and it will begin with a kick-off meeting to introduce the project and share tasks. Here are the activities and tasks to be done during our project.
- To create the project logo and online vote
- Initial questionnaire
- to introduce each countries folk music and dances (online event)
- to tell the story behind the song, creating an e-Book and animating it
- to interview people about the tradition
- to share tutorial activities of dances and learn them
- to make a video challenge about dance and music
- to make an Instagram page for dissemination
- to evaluate the project with a questionnaire and an online meeting. Report will be shared on twinspace
EXPECTED RESULTS:
The curiosity of establishing contacts with other areas of Europe will lead to significant and motivated use of technologies and English, and the students’ skills in these fields will improve accordingly. The pleasure of expressing oneself through songs and dances will encourage the development of individual expressive gifts in synergy with the group as a whole. Differences and similarities observed during the study of music, lyrics and choreographies will consolidate the idea of the existence of common roots. The e-Twinners will discover that the popular musical tradition is a valuable means of reciprocal knowledge, essential for mutual understanding and respect.
