THE TRIUMPHAL ARCH (Lisa Biondi, Daniela Piraccini)

Our project shows “The Triumphal arch”, a monument that is located in Brussels, in Belgium.
This building can be seen in the Quinquangenary Park(“Parc du Cinquantenaire”).
It was commissioned by the Belgian Goverment under the patronage of King Leopold II in 1880, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the belgian indipendency, but the Arch was built in 1905 by Gédéon Bordiau.
The structure were built in iron, glass and stone, symbolizing Belgium's economy and industry.
At the begging of 1900 the park was full of picturesque gardens, ponds and waterfall and it housed several fair trade, exhibitions and festivals, but in 1930 the government decided to reserve the Cinquantenaire for use as a leisure park.

The Menin Gate Memorial (Lucia Negosan, Alberto Campana)

The Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing is a war memorial in Ypres, Belgium, dedicated to the 80, 000 missing soldiers of England and the Commonwealth who fought in World War I and whose bodies were never recovered or identified. During medieval times the Menin Gate of Ypres was a crossing point through the ramparts of the old town fortification. In 1927 this became the chosen site for one of the most haunting memorials of the Great War with the aim of exhibiting the name of each missing soldier, but it was possible to fit only 54,896. The remaining 34,984 are located on the Tyne Cot. From 1928, at 8 pm every night, a band of trumpeters resounds the "last station", a song that marks the end of every soldier's activities. The new Menin Gate was built in the form of a Roman triumphal arch, designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield.

Cubism, Emilio Pettoruti (Luisa Ferrari, Valentina Boccali)

We chose this painting by Emilio Pettoruti, an Argentine artist who is part of the Cubist movement, because we consider that the colors used are really visually attractive and we really like the artist's ability to use geometric figures to compose the image of a woman, some people said that the woman in this painting is his wife.
We wanted to become more skillful in using this app, so we wanted to use some figures that can be drawn with math formulas. In our representation we try to use the same colors, and also make it as realistic as possible. We really enjoyed doing this project, in some parts we have some difficulties, but with a lot of work we figured out how to solve them and get it right, develop social skills and improve our knowledge of the English language

    Aan de Stroom Museum

Aan de Stroom Museum is the biggest museum in the city of Anterwp, in Belgium, and it’s located along the river banks of Schelda river. 60 meters tall, it has been designed by Neutelings Riedijk Architects and it represents Antwerp’s history and traditions. The building is an example of postmodern Art Deco architecture: in fact it’s made of blocks of red stone and meters-tall windows built with curved glass panels. The first of the ten floors of the museum is always open to the public and the exposed objects are permanent, while on the others, public or private expositions take place periodically. Another experience that the museum offers is the breathtaking view from the terrace from which it’s possible to admire the entire port and city.

    Architectural Veduta

Architectural Veduta We chose a picture of an anonymous painting from the renessaince that represents the idea of a possible city. The “ideal city” is the title given to 3 similar paintings by unknown authors, this idea was born around the XV century. Now the paintings are kept in three different cities: The Ideal City(1), in the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, The Ideal City, in the National Gallery of Marche in Urbino, and the last one, Architectural Veduta, in Gemäldegalerie in Berlin.
