Many people are familiar with the popular educational initiative of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), but lately many parents, educators, and school administrators are favoring a new term: STEAM. The phrase retains the original STEM subjects as tenets, but includes an A which stands for Arts. To be clear, this doesn’t mean that Art replaces time focusing on the hard sciences but rather that it allows for a focus on creative skills to boost engagement by making learning more fun and accessible across subjects, specially when we are working with Elementary Students. However, many educators find their biggest struggles finding inspiration for STEAM projects to motivate their kids to be involved in subjects related to STEAM. We all love STEAM and we understand the importance of incorporating some arts into our STEM activities, tasks and lessons. We will carry out STEAM activities that will inspire and WOW our students.
