We Are All Humans

The participant students from the countries involved in the project will get informed about who is regarded disabled, what are their rights, and especially what are the prerequisites about the construction of pavements, the wheelchairs’ accessibility to private businesses, public venues, and open spaces as well as the urban requirements in the interior of buildings. Students will also examine, through interviews and questionnaires, the attitude/feelings of their parents, schoolmates, teachers, and passer-byes towards the disabled. The theme of the disabled and advantages of ICT will also be tackled. Moreover, specialized psychologists, disabled individuals themselves and some of their unions will be interviewed (online/face-to-face/phone) about the feelings, aspects, reactions of the disabled. After having acquired a complete theoretical background of the issue examined, students will do research on-the-spot, strolling around each city’s pavements, buildings and open spaces to investigate if the law is applied to the everyday reality faced by the disabled with wheelchairs. Photos, videos, and notes will be kept so as conclusions to be drawn and compared among the participating countries. Last but not least, students are thinking about, pondering over their findings, feeling empathy about the disabled, criticizing, and taking real action by visiting the responsible authorities to ask for reasons and justifications along with measures to be taken so as the conditions of life of the disabled to improve.
